ROLEPLAY GUIDELINES
1. Pride Pro Wrestling operates on a bi-weekly schedule. Deadline is always 11:59 PM EST on the Sunday of show week.
2. We are not an angled fed. Pride matches will be contested under micro rules.
-The maximum word count for each RP is 750 words.
-Each RP will also have a minimum word count of 500 words.
-You may RP as many times in an RP period as you have time, energy and ideas for.
-However only the single highest scoring RP from each person will be counted.
-EXCEPTION: In the event of a tie, we will average scores from all RPs to determine a winner.
-2nd EXCEPTION: If the result is still a tie, the match will end in a draw.
3. As stated before: Only the best single RP is counted for each character. Always. If you're in a tag team, that means two RP's from each side will be judged. EXCEPTION: You are always welcome to discuss between yourselves how you would like things to be judged. We will honor this, PROVIDED that both sides are in agreement and have run it by management prior to deadline. If you want to angle a match, or do a best of 2 RPs, or a best of 7 RPs, or if you're a tag team and want to have a "Best Single RP from each team," we will accommodate...but again, both sides must be okay with the change in policy.
4. Going along with these rules being "default:" Many rules may be altered on a match-by-match basis if discussed and agreed upon by both parties, and presented to the admin team. You are welcome to plan out angled endings as you please. However, if nothing is presented to the admins before deadline, the single best RP will be judged, and the best RP declared the winner.
5. SOFT DEADLINE RULE: Only one RP may be posted per character within the final four hours of deadline. This is to limit people that may want to post multiples within the last hours in an attempt to prevent their opponents from being able to respond to them. I realize many on the roster may have time constraints. That is why this is not a 24 or 48 hour rule. Four hours is more than enough time for your opponent to respond to an RP.
-What this means:
--On deadline day, if you wish to post multiple RPs, you have to make sure all but the last one are in before 7:59pm EST. It does not limit anything you post before that cutoff, only after. If you want to post 30 RPs on deadline day, as long as 29 of them are in before this soft cut off, they will be counted.
---Exception: If you post within the four hour cutoff, and your opponent posts a response RP, you are allowed to respond to them. As long as the RPs within the last four hours alternate between the individuals in the match, and are not double posts from one handler, they will be counted.
----Penalty: If this rule is broken, any RPs that are DQ'd will not count towards the match grades. I will still read and grade them. I will still offer feedback. They just will not count towards the scoring of the match. I think that is more than fair.
-----Handlers may choose to waive this rule on a match-to-match basis if all individuals involved in the match agree to do so. Just send a message and let me know.
ROLEPLAY GRADING
1. I know people hate a rubric style of grading because it could vary based on the member of staff that grades each RP for each match. At the same time, others hate the idea of a vote based system through private messages because they feel like other members may vote for who is popular, or more friendly to them. There are negatives on both sides. Therefore, to try and address both, I will be taking on all of the grading. I feel as if I have to be able to justify who wins and who loses, and be able to provide proof of that in the event someone wishes to see it, and a rubric is just the best way to handle that in the shortest amount of time. So, that being said, here is how it will break down.
Entertainment - 15 Points
This is basically just the overall enjoyment of your RP. Some people might elect to do a small off-camera part of their RP to tell a character story, some might put a little more effort into a setting for a scene instead of just the straight monologue of a promo, others might frame their RP in dozens of different ways. This category, no matter how you choose to attack it, is the overall enjoyment of whatever it is that you produce. There are no wrong answers here.
Relevance - 15 Points
This is a big one, and possibly where CD writers have to beware. Whatever it is that you post, be it off-camera or on-camera, should somehow tie back to Pride Pro Wrestling. If it is something unrelated to the fed, but related to your character's story, toss that in the CD forum or play it out in segments. What ends up in a legitimate match RP, should tie back to that match, a championship in question, or Pride in general. There is not a simpler way to earn points than that.
The Argument - 20 Points
This is the big one. Micro is a format that lends itself to back and forth trash talking between opponents. This category is all about how persuasive you are. Convince me, in whatever way you can, that your character is going to win this match. Each character, no matter their alignment or disposition, has their own way of trying to sell themselves over their opponent. You can do it any way you like. Do your character play mind games? Are they a straight trash talker? Are they going to give a little respect, but say why your opponent is going to come up short anyways? Whatever it is,
sell it to me and these points are yours.
Mechanics - 5 Points
It is the small things that will kill you. Do not let the small amount of points fool you. In most feds, the people doing the grading will tell you that having a full seven points between matches is a rarity. If there is that big of a divide, someone no-showed, or the people doing the booking messed something up big time. Seven points can definitely make or break an RP, and that really sucks in the case of a piece of writing that is otherwise really great. Make sure you run your RP through spellcheck and these points are real easy to get.
Total Possible: 55 points

2. TRANSPARENCY. I have been in feds where fedheads have thrown up rubrics, and given an outline of what they expect, only for nobody to ever see that. Even worse, there are others that are notorious for saying they are grading things, without ever actually reading any of the RPs. As a fedhead, if I am asked for grades, I should be able to provide them quickly and efficiently for every RP that you have ever posted on the site. After all, I have to know these things in order to write results, and EVERY RP that gets posted gets graded. Therefore I am making two rules for myself that the roster is free to enforce.
-If a grade is requested via PM, I will send you all grades requested for the match in question. This will include grades for all of your RPs for the match, and in the event of a loss, you will be provide the score and title of the winning RP as well. As I said, I should be able to justify the result of a match beyond any doubt, so I think this is more than fair.
-In order to make this process efficient, any time a grade is asked for, I will respond with all required information through a PM within 24 hours.
-We have a feedback board, but if you wish to request feedback on any of the scores you receive, all you have to do is ask after being given the scores and I will be able to provide you with a second response within the 24 hours after that PM.
-It might appear that two days is a lot of time, but there is a purpose, I promise. In the event that a problem arises, setting up these deadlines allows me to build in time that people can cool off. Sending the requests through PMs on the boards should be able to eliminate problems showing up on social media and the forum itself while we iron out the problems.
-The only restriction to any part of the Transparency Rule is that I will not provide scores on any RP that is part of an active card.
3. SUBJECT TO CHANGE. I reserve the right to change and edit these rules as I see fit. However, to protect the members of the roster, changes will not be made during an active card. That would be unfair. The rules that you will be judged on, are the rules in this thread at the time that a card is announced. Changes will be made in the 24 hours between results going up and a new card being announced. Any changes will be made via announcement, and in most cases, will probably be discussed in the Pride Talk forum before they even take place. I do not want to impose rules that the roster is not going to like. That would be counter-productive, and a good way to make people leave.
