Pride Pro Wrestling Proudly Presents...
Live from the Infinite Energy Arena in Atlanta, GA!
The feed comes to life inside the pitch black arena, and only camera flashes and the noise of the crowd tell viewers at home that something is not wrong with their feed. The opening Machine Gun Kelly, X Ambassadors, and Bebe Rexha's “Home” floods the PA system, and quickly quiets the crowd noise.
Home
A place where I can go
To take this off my shoulders
Someone take me home
The giant screen at the top of the entrance ramp comes to life with the old Pride Pro Logo. The crowd explodes in cheers as we fast forward through highlights of Eric James, DeMarcus Gresham, Julian Savell, Jason Halich, Luke Jackson and even Cody Taylor.
Home
A place where I can go
To take this off my shoulders
Someone take me home
An old outside shot of the Gwinnett Center shifts around to show the new Infinite Energy logo in present day, and the old Pride logo fades to the blue theme of the new run. Years older versions of Jason Halich, Julian Savell, and DeMarcus Gresham flash across the screen.
Look, I didn't power through the struggle
Just to let a little trouble, knock me out of my position
And interrupt the vision
After everything I witnessed, after all of these decisions
We switch to the new faces of Pride, specifically Eliza Valentine running through many of them Ignition after Ignition. We see see Maddie Wilson attacking Faith Rivers before her match with Eliza, and challenging Eliza to a match.
All these miles, feet, inches
They can't add up to the distance
That I have been through, just to get to
A place where even if there's no closure
We cut to Sammy Duke getting beaten by Erron Wilder at ReAwakening, only to keep coming back week after week, and improving. Flashes of the TV Championship match against Holly Rhodes and Luke Jackson end with Holly's arm raised with Sammy looking on disappointed.
Now tell me: how did all my dreams turn to nightmares?
How did I lose it when I was right there?
Now I'm so far that it feels like it's all gone to pieces
Tell me why the world never fights fair
I'm trying to find
We speed through Spider's successes in Pride, before showing Josh Anderson's debut at ReAwakening. He is followed by Christian Michaels, and James Williams. Finally, highlights from Deacon Thomas' tables match against Merrick Henderson and then the announcement of the Coastal Championship.
Home
A place where I can go
To take this off my shoulders
Someone take me home
We see a shot of RC Tucker sitting on top of the ladder after winning the PRIDE Championship, and the crowd roars in approval. We cut away to Erron Wilder's dominant performances since that match, and the victory against Anushka that gave us the main event rematch.
Home
A place where I can go
To take this off my shoulders
Someone take me home
We get a single flash of DeMarcus Gresham, who catches serious boos from the fans, who then cheer wholeheartedly for Julian Savell who pops up just after. At the last line of the chorus, the cameras cut away from the screen as white and blue pyrotechnics go off on the stage and send the crowd into a frenzy.
As soon as the pyrotechnics cut off, Good Girls by Elle King hits the speakers. There’s a confused hum that runs through the crowds as no one is even in place yet, the announcers table is empty and the run announcer is not yet even in position. Eliza Valentine steps out onto the stage and immediately a chorus of boos reigns down on her, with a smile she almost skips as she makes her way down the ramp, when she reaches the ring, she slides under the bottom rope, mic in hand and turns to face the ramp, addressing everyone backstage as well as the fans.
Eliza Valentine:
"Boo, boooo, that’s all you pathetic peons ever do, you know… you should THANK me, week after week I save you from boring matches and little piss babies who are too scared to step up to the big bad bully. And what thanks do I get, huh? What reward do I get for taking out the weak and unworthy?!"
She almost screams down the mic towards the end, which only brings out more booing. The reaction makes Eliza laugh, she rears back slightly and drops onto the top rope resting on it.
Eliza Valentine:
"Tonight, I have saved you from the mediocrity of the matches on this card that precede Mine… First, we have Gio Davidson a poor excuse for a poor excuse, a waste of time and money, a forced investment this company did not want to make… well. We no longer have Gio Davidson. Fortunately that pile of puke has been carted off to the hospital, never to be seen again. Let’s just say there was a happy accident between a baseball bat and several parts of his body. Awww, ain’t it a shame that some punk, some useless never fucking was who doesn’t deserve to so much as breathe the same air as me… never will again?"
Eliza starts to chuckle now as the fans boo again.
Eliza Valentine:
"And speaking of ambulance rides, sweet little Britney, you know, if really was a shame to mess up that beautiful face of hers. So cute, so sweet so… delightful when it squashed again the end of a bat. Or.. so I assume, little accidents after all. What reason would I have to take people out, hmm?"
Eliza smirks as she goes to stand but then pauses.
Eliza Valentine:
"But then, fate thought, what if they take Drew Simmons the underachieving pathetic mess of a human being and throw him at the wall with Jay, who the fuck are you again, Wilson? Fate considered this option and then…
Well, let’s just say Jay should maybe practice his pirate impression because that leg didn’t look like it was going to be holding weight any time soon… or, so I heard."
The fans start to go insane as she reels off all the incidents that have led to her standing in the ring now, she shrugs them off with another loud laugh before turning to look back up the ramp.
Eliza Valentine:
"So, Twitter bitch, get your dumpy, pathetic ass out here so I can kick it from one side of this fucking ring to another, this ends here you whiny little cunt. And when I’m done with you, I will walk out of here head held high and into the arms of the man who tomorrow will be my husband and you? Well, when they’re done scraping you off the mats, you can tell me how sorry you were to EVER cross me."
CALIFORNIA LOVE!!!!!!!
The lights around the arena flicker and go out as sky blue and neon green lights spiral around the stage. The fans erupt in cheers as Maddie Wilson comes out from behind the curtain also ready to compete. She pauses on top of the stage, and looks out to the crowd, soaking in the reaction. She makes her way down the ramp, but as she gets to ringside, JD Wright rushes past her, and slides into the ring to talk to Eliza. The cameras shift to them arguing as Maddie climbs the stairs to get into the ring. JD points to ringside, where both Heather Cooper and the timekeeper are supposed to be. Their seats sit empty, just like the two behind the commentary table. Maddie climbs between the ropes though, and as soon as she does Eliza shoves JD out of the way and kicks her in the side of the head.
JD attempted to signal for a bell to start the match, but there was nobody there to ring it. He looked up the ramp, and tried to wave people down to ringside, because neither of the women in the ring showed any sign that they were going to stop and wait for people to come out. In the early going, Eliza Valentine was able to keep control following the initial blindside kick to Maddie's head. She appeared to have the match well in hand until Maddie countered a suplex attempt from Eliza into a small package. Before JD could even interrupt her and tell her she could only win by submission, Maddie popped up having switched her grip to just Eliza's leg. She wrenched her ankle, forcing Eliza to spin over onto her stomach.
Eliza crawled around the ring trying to get to the ropes, but Maddie managed to keep her feet planted in the center of the ring. Finally changing strategies, Eliza tucked her head, and rolled forward, slingshotting Maddie towards the ropes, and forcing her to let go of the hold. Maddie jumped up as she neared the ropes, and springboarded back towards Eliza with an attempt at a crossbody, but Eliza ducked under her. Maddie found nothing but canvas on her way down, and the impact clearly knocked the air out of her. Eliza wasted no time locking her legs around Maddie's torso and then sinking in her Dragon Sleeper. The cameras at ringside were able to focus in as Maddie struggled to get out of the hold.
Eliza Valentine:
"SAY MY NAME!"
Maddie tried to free herself from the hold, but there was no escaping. Inevitably Eliza took her down to the mat, and JD called the match for Eliza once Maddie became unresponsive. Both the timekeeper, and Heather Cooper had made their way down to ringside, for the bell to ring and end the match.
Heather Cooper:
"Ladies and gentlemen your winner Eliza Valentine!"
JD has to pry Eliza off of Maddie, and then move her away from the downed rookie as her theme hits the PA system. For once, she actually insists that he raise her arm, but as he does, her theme cuts off.
Genesis, Genesis
Genesis, Genesis
Genesis, Genesis
Genesis, Genesis
The fans in the Infinite Energy Arena erupt for the throwback theme. Eliza Valentine seems confused about it, and pulls her arm away from JD Wright. She moves across the ring to the side near the bottom of the ramp, and looks up just as Jason Halich and Parker Wayde come out from opposite sides of the curtain.
As we welcome you all to the future
Oh! We come to give you that
Operating like we be official
The two come out to the stage, but wait there. A member of the ringside crew tosses Jason a microphone from halfway up the ramp, that Parker jumps in front of and 'intercepts' before the boss can grab it. The crowd roars with cheers for Parker, who takes a light bow before handing off the microphone to Jason and walking over to the announce table.
Genesis

The theme cuts off as Jason raises the microphone up to his lips. Eliza tries to get the same ringside crew member to give her one as well.
Jason Halich:
"Nobody give her a microphone. She has done more than enough talking already tonight."
The crowd erupts in applause and cheers for Jason while Eliza appears to become more livid.
Jason Halich:
"You have taken it upon yourself to ruin the first part of the show, have your match early, and do so even before my announcement that was supposed to kick off the show."
The cameras cut down to Eliza to catch her reaction, and she does not seem remorseful for her actions at all.
Jason Halich:
"You are a headache. If you want to know why you find yourself at the bottom of cards, that is why. You cause problems. I have to add a disclaimer when I put out the line-up for the show, because we don't know what you will say or do to run people off in the week leading up to the show."
Again, the cameras cut away to Eliza, who does not seem bothered at all by the accusation.
Jason Halich:
"I can't sell a match with you in it, because nobody knows if your opponent is going to show up. That is why you have been floundering at the bottom. I can't do anything with you because you refuse to play by any of the rules. But, maybe I'm wrong to do so."
The fans seem to turn against him for even suggesting as much. Eliza seems to perk up in the ring though.
Jason Halich:
"One thing is clear, everyone in this arena hates you."
The fans answer with cheers and applause that back up his claim.
Jason Halich:
"I bet they would be okay if I fired you right now."
The roar he gets in response overloads the audio on the feed and viewers at home have their sound cut in and out until Jason interrupts the crowd to speak again.
Jason Halich:
"...and I could probably justify doing so if you weren't any good inside that ring, but you are. Maybe you deserve a chance to prove that against the top talent in Pride."
The crowd turns against him again, but this time he cuts them off before they can get rolling.
Jason Halich:
"Regardless of how you personally feel about her, is she not talented? Do you not want to see how she measures up against Erron Wilder, DeMarcus Gresham, Julian Savell, Spider, or RC Tucker? Even if it is just to see them take her apart?"
The reaction actually turns positive, and Jason holds the microphone up to signal to the fans to let him hear it. He seems convinced.
Jason Halich:
"Then maybe if she gets out of my ring and stops trying to ruin my show I will think about it."
The cameras cut down to Eliza, who holds her hands up. She looks down at Maddie, who is still face down on the mat with JD Wright sitting next to her and talking to her. The medical crew have made their way down as well, and Eliza sees no point in staying. She steps out between the ropes, and starts to make her way up the ramp as the cameras cut to the backstage area.
Backstage, Kurtis Gordon appears before the camera with a ready introduction.
Kurtis Gordon:
"Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming... Jennifer Yang."
The camera zooms out a little to a two-shot as Jennifer steps in from the side. Dressed in her ring gear with her hair up in a ponytail, she looks relaxed but prepared.
Jennifer Yang:
"Hey, Kurtis. How are you?"
Kurtis Gordon:
"I’m good. Thanks for agreeing to do a quick interview with me."
Jennifer flashes a warm smile.
Jennifer Yang:
"My pleasure! Thanks for having me."
Kurtis Gordon:
"So, tonight marks your PPV debut here which is also your second match in Pride. What are your thoughts on that?"
Jennifer Yang:
"Well, it’s been pretty good so far. Phenomenon’s gonna be a great show. So many wonderful talents on a single card and with ALL the titles on the line, wow! I’m just honored to be part of Pride Pro’s history."
He grins as she chuckles, clearly excited about what tonight may bring.
Kurtis Gordon:
"I saw your promotional video. You’re going up against Echo tonight, a fellow newbie on the roster. You mentioned that you want you and Echo to help each other out to put on a performance that could rival that of the other wrestlers here, including those whose names are bigger than yours. Well, that’s a bold statement there, Jennifer. Do you always set yourself that high a bar?"
Gazing down on her feet, she blushes slightly before looking back up at him.
Jennifer Yang:
"Yeah, I do. All the time. It’s how I motivate myself. I’ve gotta constantly push myself to be one step closer everyday, even if it’s by a tiny inch. As long as I keep going, it’s all I’m aiming for. Of course I think people like RC Tucker, Erron Wilder, Holly Rhodes, Sammy Duke, those competing for the Coastal championship and all WILL raise the bar tonight but that doesn’t mean I won’t either. I think, collectively, each name on tonight’s card wants to make that golden impression because whatever happens at Phenomenon will change the course of Pride in the upcoming weeks. And I want to be part of that. I’ve always been a hard worker so I’ve gotta set myself goals like this, Kurtis. It keeps me grounded and focused. So tonight, that’s what I’m gonna do."
She gives a confident nod.
Kurtis Gordon:
"That’s a great attitude to have. You have me convinced, Jennifer. Pride’s full of big talents and I wish you all the best!"
Kurtis extends his hand to Jennifer who graciously accepts.
Jennifer Yang:
"Thank you! See you around, Kurtis!"
Jennifer walks off the interview set before the scene cuts away.
Parker Wayde:
"Some big developments here to kick off the show tonight! Eliza Valentine has apparently single-handedly disposed of most of the combatants in our earlier contests, and then brought an end to Maddie Wilson's time in Pride to kick off the show tonight. Our show got moved from our new headquarters in Jet City back to our home in Atlanta, Georgia! But none of those are as big as the man sitting to my left, the owner himself, Jason Halich!"
Jason Halich:
"That's right. Coby Quik had a family engagement over at Liberty Pro tonight, and couldn't make it here tonight to sit behind the desk. I figured maybe it would be fun to come out and let the roster know what I think about them."
Parker Wayde:
"You've already cut Eliza Valentine a break..."
Jason Halich:
"Look, Violet has been talking to me, and I can kind of see her point. Eliza has talent. That much is obvious. She is just a huge headache though. She lives to create problems. Handling her this way didn't work, and it cost us Abby and Maddie backstage. Maybe we give her what she wants and see how it all plays out. Throw her in the deep end so to speak..."
Parker Wayde:
"Well the deep end in Pride is pretty deep, and our card tonight is still pretty stacked."
Jason Halich:
"Everything has been building up until now. We saw so many of the rivalries tonight start at ReAwakening. DeMarcus and Julian specifically. These two have been inching closer and closer to ripping one another apart, and I can't wait to watch it happen later on."
Parker Wayde:
"Also started back at ReAwakening was the dispute between RC Tucker and Erron Wilder over who is the best of the best in Pride. Erron won the first match at ReAwakening where he became the Lion's Pride Event winner, and punched his ticket to the PRIDE Championship match. RC Tucker would go on to win that match, which makes tonight kind of a tie breaker between the two."
Jason Halich:
"It's a lot more than that. As well as RC Tucker has done, it still seems like he has something that he needs to prove. A lot of people thought that Erron Wilder should have walked away with the championship the last time. If RC beats him twice though, it will be hard for him to get another chance."
Parker Wayde:
"Speaking of a second chance, Sammy Duke gets his second chance to take on Holly Rhodes for the Television Championship coming up later tonight."
Jason Halich:
"Come on man, that is a totally different situation and you know it. Sammy earned his way in. Luke Jackson was the one that came up short the first time around. For Holly to move on as champion, she needs to put Sammy in her rear view mirror. She needs a win tonight just as much as Sammy does."
Parker Wayde:
"Well, she has been dominant since making her debut. Another dominant female we have seen on the rise in Pride has a chance to walk away with gold around her waist as well. Spider takes on four men for the Coastal Championship right here tonight."
Jason Halich:
"There are a lot of dangerous people in that ring though Parker. We have Josh Anderson, who took out a handful of people on his first night. Christian Michaels who has been solidly impressive since coming back. James Williams who has come out of nowhere to be as successful as we originally thought Wyatt Warner was going to be."
Parker Wayde:
"Yeah that kid crashed and burned and then broke his legs..."
Jason Halich:
"...and Deacon Thomas already proved to everyone that he has what it takes. He beat Merrick pretty badly in that tables match. I'm not sure I can call which way this one goes."
Parker Wayde:
"Plus we have Jessic Salco making her debut tonight!"
Jason Halich:
"That's right, SCW mainstay, my former co-worker, and an all around amazing performer came knocking on my door, and I made the deal happen. Jessie is going to do big things in Pride. I couldn't be more excited to be sitting right here for her debut."
Parker Wayde:
"Even if that debut comes at the expense of Jet City student Kendall James?"
Jason Halich:
"Even if. I trust that Kendall has the talent to put on a good show. It's not going to matter to me who wins. I bet these two women tear the house down."
Parker Wayde:
"None of that is what we are going to see first though. We saw both Echo and Jennifer make their debuts at Ignition, and now they do battle here tonight to get things underway following Eliza Valentine's disruption."
Jason Halich:
"...and a little inside secret, I was kind of thinking whoever won could face the winner of the Television Championship match on our first show in January..."
Parker Wayde:
"Jason Halich out here dropping announcements left and right...."
When the intro of “Let ‘Em Say” by Lizzo & Caroline Smith starts to play, the screen shows rhythmic cuts of “JENNIFER”, “YANG”, “#BEHUMBLE” and various shots of her dominating in the ring with her finisher and signature moves. The vocals kick in and out comes Jennifer Yang, full of positive energy and attitude.
Heather Cooper:
"Making her Pride Pro Wrestling debut, Jennifer Yang!"
She waves to the fans, slapping some of their hands, as she runs past them before entering the ring. She climbs up one corner and hypes up the crowd with an enthusiastic shout and a dazzling smile. She hops back down as the music fades out.
Heather Cooper:
"...and her opponent..."
"This is my War” hits the PA system, and the lights dim, but nobody steps out from behind the curtain at the top of the stage. Confused murmurs fill the arena, and even Heather Cooper seems to be at a loss for what to do. Instead of waiting, she goes ahead and makes the announcement.
Heather Cooper:
"Echo!"
The fans applaud, and fans all around the barricades at ringside point towards the woman as she rolls out from under the the ring and gets up to her feet. She looks up at Jennifer, who is stretching before the start of the match, without any emotion on her face. As she slides into the ring, Heather makes her exit.
As soon as JD called for the opening bell, Echo marched right up to Jennifer and slapped her across the face. As Jennifer’s head whipped to the side, she slowly turned it back to stare daggers at Echo.
Jason Halich:
“I’m not quite sure if that was a wise move on Echo’s part.”
Parker Wayde:
“I can tell you that it definitely wasn’t!”
Before Echo knew what was happening, Jennifer delivered a series of martial arts styled punches and kick that had her opponent reeling on her feet. As Echo staggered, Jennifer kicked her in the midsection and planted her to the mat with a snap DDT. Once Echo’s head bounced off the mat, she looked pretty out of it.
Jason Halich:
“Yang not going for a cover here...”
Parker Wayde:
“She wants to make a statement.”
Jennifer taunted the crowd and got them all riled up as she waited for Echo to come to her senses. When Echo finally started to show signs of life, Jennifer eyed her up somewhat impatiently. The moment Echo returned to her feet, Jennifer grabbed her in a wristlock before scaling the ropes and coming off with the #BEHUMBLE.
Jason Halich:
“Talk about a perfect Springboard Cutter!”
Just after she connected, Jennifer hooked Echo’s leg and went for the cover as JD began his count.
*ONE...TWO...THREE*
Fans erupted with cheers as “Let ‘Em Say” by Lizzo and Caroline Smith started to play out. Jennifer was all smiles as JD raised her arm into the air while Heather spoke into the microphone.
Heather Cooper:
“Here is your winner by pinfall...JENNNNNIFERRRR YAAAAAAANNNNNGGGGGGG!”
Parker Wayde:
“If we learned anything from tonight, it’s don’t mess with Miss Yang in the future!”
Jason Halich:
“She did look quite impressive.”
Fans continued to cheer as Jennifer went about her victory celebration with cameras going elsewhere.
Sammy Duke:
“What a long strange trip it’s been, to get here.”
The scene opens to the locker room area, with Sammy Duke seated on the bench. It was quiet. He was, alone.
Sammy Duke:
“Back at ReAwakening, no one expected that someone like me could have ever made a splash. Then, after the fight with Erron Wilder...no one would have expected I’d even keep this boyhood dream going. I was knocked out. Concussed. Didn’t really know where I was. Confused…”
He reached down into his gym bag to pull out his wrestling boots. He started untying the laces as he spoke.
Sammy Duke:
“But, even concussed, I knew I wanted to keep fighting. Those fans, I heard something out there. It was like they...believed in me, anyway. I was, their dream. They could live vicariously through me, much like I did for my heroes that I watched on TV. For them, I knew I had to keep fighting. I knew it would be tough.”
Slowly, he put the first boot on his foot, then took the other into his hands.
Sammy Duke:
“Heck, it HAS been tough! Since ReAwakening, I have had some of the toughest matches ever. Certainly the toughest matches for a guy that literally just started…"
He sighs.
Sammy Duke:
"I mean first there was Erron Wilder, our number one contender…"
He perks up slightly.
Sammy Duke:
"Then my special ...uhh, friend, the Israeli legend Anushka Aalto. That was my first time in a lengthy match, and she helped me learn sooooo much!"
He seems even more excited now, especially to mention his biggest success to date.
Sammy Duke:
"My first win, against Drew Simmons, which was iconic to me for giving me my first championship opportunity! I’ll always treasure that moment…"
There is a little bit of a bittersweet tone to his voice now.
Sammy Duke:
My first championship match was against a veteran Luke Jackson, and Holly Rhodes. I tasted defeat yet again, but I learned enough to not be pinned. Progress!”
As Sammy pulled the other boot on, he stood up from the bench, stretching his arms up high in the air.
Sammy Duke:
“Then my biggest chance so far, I got the opportunity to face the reigning, Pride Champion in RC Tucker. Yet again, I didn’t win that. I didn’t win most of these...but you know what, each and everyone still stood by me. Each and every one of our great fans truly believed in me. You all...stood with Sammy!”
With his stretching done, his gear all set, he took a towel from his bag and patted his face with it, dabbing any beads of perspiration from his forehead. It was only by this point that Sammy finally noticed the camera man that had snuck into the room. He looked right to the camera.
Sammy Duke:
“Tonight, at Phenomenon, is gonna be another chance to Stand With Sammy. For each and every one of you. For Holly. For everyone that ever wanted to believe. For everyone that was ever told they ‘couldn’t’ do something. Tonight, is OUR night!”
A feint “Stand With Sammy” chant can be heard in the background, fan voices echoing through the arena.
Sammy Duke:
“We’re comin Holly Rhodes! Get ready. Because the Sammy Duke show is coming to Atlanta…”
Sammy flashes the ohsocheesiest smirk. A smirk that was likely resemblant of any time he fired off one of his “straight fire jokes”...
Sammy Duke:
“And YOU have a front row seat!”
PREVIOUSLY RECORDED
Atlanta...the mecca of the south in a lot of ways. The scene opening to the skyline of the city before a voice comes in over the view.
DeMarcus Gresham:
“It’s almost biblical…”
The cut of the evening skyline leads to the tall walking frame of “Gifted” DeMarcus Gresham walking along Peachtree Street. The business with the time of year apparent with the hustle and bustle happening behind him. Clothed in a pair of nice fitting khakis and a double breasted lamb shearling coat he casually walks along the street with people moving out of the way as he approaches. Keeping his eye on the camera in front of him Gresham takes a moment to button the top of his coat.
DeMarcus Gresham:
“So many beginnings here. So much history. It’s only right to return to end one chapter and embark on new ones. PRIDE Pro returns home almost like the prodigal child but here we will not find celebration and hugs, no no no...here we will find the purest examples of challenge, heart, and determination.”
He continues his stroll looking ahead.
DeMarcus Gresham:
“Julian Savell, this is where it began so it’s only fitting it be where it ends. Your malice for me and my success. Your continuous demand for my attention. Your...obvious jealousy. Realize it began here with me being the gifted embodiment of professional wrestling and you...a man...with an umbrella when it doesn’t even rain indoors.”
He chuckles for a moment at his own humor.
DeMarcus Gresham:
“Instead of placing my focus in the path more fitted for a man of my skill I deal with you. No no do not take it as a slight, I rather place blame on myself. Had I done what was needed from the very beginning and not allowed you quarter in the PRIDE Pro return ReAwakening. Had I taken care of you early and not allowed your foolishness...perhaps I would be challenging for the glory taken away from me on this very show so very long ago. But..”
A slight shrug of his shoulders shown by the tight fitting coat.
DeMarcus Gresham:
“Here we are. I do not think of the past in pain only in motivation. The rough start here in the second rendition is motivation. My first and only success coming by the way of a rookie is motivation. The frustrations of defeat...unlike you though Savell I do not lose, I learn. Believe me, all the lessons and personal enlightenment will be brought to you in full inside that ring. The old guard awakens this night. Most consider us not a threat, I will show otherwise. It is why I am Gifted. It is time to close the chapter on who is the leader of the guard. I shall gift you all. You’re welcome.”
The camera stays put as DeMarcus walks past the camera continuing his walk under the Atlanta night. The scene fades on his back.
Heather Cooper:
"The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the Pride Television Championship!"
"Sunglasses at Night" by Corey Hart starts to play through the PA system and the fans explode with cheers. Sammy Duke comes out onto the stage, raising both of his hands up into the air with a huge smile on his face.
Heather Cooper:
"Introducing the challenger, from Santa Cruz, California, SAMMY DUKE!"
The fans break into chants of his name that almost dwarf the music. He makes his way down the ramp, slapping the hands of any fan that reaches out towards him. When he gets to the bottom of the ramp, he breaks to the other side, greeting fans before climbing up the stairs and entering the ring.
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent..."
"Holy Diver" hits over the loudspeakers and as soon as the music increases in tempo, Holly parts the curtain.
Heather Cooper:
"She is the reigning Pride Television Champion, Holly Rhodes!"
She slowly walks to the ring, her eyes fixed on the ring. The Television Championship is draped over her shoulder, and she hugs the strap to her chest. She looks around as she marches to the ring, taking in the crowd noises. She pauses at the steps, takes a deep breath and slaps the steps before running up them and into the ring. PJ Cooper steps over to her, and she reluctantly hands over the championship for him to hold up. It gets its own ovation from the crowd before it is passed off to the timekeeper before the start of the match.
Parker Wayde:
"Pride Pro Wrestling Television Championship is up for grabs!"
Jason Halich:
"Either Holly is going to finally move past Sammy, or Sammy is finally going to give these people a reason to stand with him."
Parker Wayde:
"You don't sound too happy that he got this opportunity."
Jason Halich:
"I'd like to see him do something with the opportunities he is given is all..."
Both Holly and Sammy were more than ready to get the match underway. As soon as PJ Cooper handed off the Television Championship to the timekeeper, the two came out of their corners and locked up with one another. Holly gained the early advantage because of her height, and was able to bend Sammy backwards. However, once he took a step back and planted his foot, he was able to turn to his weight advantage and force Holly back. It was all for nothing though, because Holly cut him off with a sharp kick to the midsection and then followed it up with a suplex.
Parker Wayde:
"As nice as Holly is, she has become awfully possessive of that Television Championship."
Jason Halich:
"I'm pretty sure she would sink lower than Sammy would in order to keep it. She's just been giving off that vibe lately. I mean it's evidenced enough by that kick though."
Holly grabbed Sammy by the wrist and started to lift him off of the mat, only to catch him with a hard right elbow strike across the eye as he was getting up. Sammy reeled back on his heels, but Holly kept her grip on his wrist and sent him sprinting towards the ropes. When he rebounded off she was there to scoop him off of his feet and slam him to the mat with a running powerslam that took the breath out of the crowd as well as Sammy. Holly covered for the pin attempt, but was only quick enough to get a two count from PJ Cooper.
Parker Wayde:
"Holly seems to be backing up her words. She was better than Sammy last time, and this time it is not looking any different."
Jason Halich:
"You have to wonder if Sammy's scare last Ignition has anything to do with that. Maybe he has gotten too inside his own head."
Holly got back to her feet before Sammy for a second time, and reached down for his wrist again, only to be pulled into a small package style pin. PJ got down to slap the mat only a single time before Holly kicked out of the predicament. Sammy was able to keep his grip on her leg though, and sent two hard kicks to the back of her calf before she could pull her leg away. Holly brought he legs up to her chest, pulling Sammy close to her, and then delivered a hard right hand to his cheekbone that staggered him backwards. She was able to make it to her feet, but as soon as she was vertical Sammy took off sprinting towards her and hit a basement dropkick to the same leg. The impact took Holly's leg out from under her and dropped her face first to the mat.
Parker Wayde:
"Here comes Sammy Duke!"
Jason Halich:
"We have seen flashes of this, but he has to keep focused. He has softened up the leg, now it is time to go for the kill. No flashy or unneeded tricks."
Sammy moved around Holly and stomped twice on the same leg that he had been working over before locking in a single-leg Boston crab. Holly immediately yelled out in pain, but was able to inch her way over to the ropes to get a break from the hold. As soon as PJ Cooper called for the break, Sammy released the champion, and moved away. The crowd seemed solidly behind him. He played to them for a moment, giving Holly time to pick herself up with the aid of the ropes. PJ Cooper seemed convinced that she was ready to continue, and Sammy tried to get back on offense. However, as the two came together, Holly was able to block away one of his right hands, and trap it to her side. Sammy threw a left hand that Holly caught as well, doing the same. The fans popped lightly when she took him overhead with a belly-to-belly suplex that followed.
Parker Wayde:
"Just like that, Holly has turned the tables."
Jason Halich:
"Sammy should have tried to pull her away from the ropes, she would have done the same to him."
Sammy took extra time to get up following the move, and Holly was ready for him, despite hobbling on her bad leg. Once Sammy was back up, she went in for the kill, lifting him effortlessly up onto her shoulders. The fans did not seemed pleased with her, but came to life with cheers as Sammy reached out and grabbed hold of the top rope before Holly could pull him away. With Sammy draped across her shoulders, she tried to take a step towards the middle of the ring, but her leg came out from under her, and she dropped Sammy back down to his feet. The challenger took one of her wrists, and whipped her towards the corner, but at the last second, Holly reversed and sent Sammy towards the corner.
Parker Wayde:
"Sammy don't do it!"
Jason Halich:
"This is going to be a trainwreck...."
Sammy leaps up and hits the middle turnbuckle in the corner, before stepping up to the top. Unlike on Ignition, he manages to hit firmly on the top turnbuckle, and flip himself backwards over top of Holly as she runs underneath him. She slammed hard into the turnbuckle as Sammy landed on his feet behind her. In a flash of speed, he shifts on his feet and shuffles forwards towards her, connecting with a hard kick to the back of her leg that dropped Holly to the mat.
Parker Wayde:
"A Reverse Sweet Shin Music!"
Jason Halich:
"Holly's down!"
Sammy made short work of positioning himself in between Holly and the ropes and locked in his legbar submission move to the best of his ability. Holly fought to escape the pin, but finding herself cut off from the ropes unless she crawled all the way across the ring, she was eventually forced to tap out. PJ Cooper called for the bell, and as soon as it chimed the first time, Sammy let go of the hold and Heather Cooper's sweet voice echoed throughout the arena.
Heather Cooper:
"Ladies and gentlemen here is your winner and NEW Pride Pro Wrestling Television Champion, Sammy Duke!"
Sammy got up from the mat just in time for PJ Cooper to hand him the Television Championship, and raise his hand into the air in victory. The fans got to their feet, applauding the rookie on a hard fought victory as he celebrated the big win.
We find ourselves in the backstage area and it is there where we are able to see an unfamiliar face with a microphone in her hand. She smiles as she looks right into the heart of the camera lens.
Elise Reynolds:
“Hello everyone I am Elise Reynolds, taking over for Maddie Wilson backstage. Tonight we have something special I am proud to announce that Pride has just signed someone new to the company. An individual that is acknowledged worldwide and she goes by the name of…"
A woman immediately snatches the microphone away as she runs her hands through her blonde hair. The fans can be heard cheering as she begins to speak.
Kate Steele:
“Certain people just need to shut up! So bloody annoying and I am more comfortable in introducing myself or better yet I will let my girlfriend do the honours.”
Mackenzie Roberts:
“That I can do so everyone needs to shut up because Kate here didn’t come here to appease the fans. She came here to make an impact, she came to take the company by storm. You should know who she is but if you don’t let me introduce you. She is Kate Steele!"
Kate Steele:
“Kate Steele. The woman who has competed in so many companies. The woman who basically won championships in every place she has ever competed. That is who I am. Now earlier this month Jessie Salco signed with this company and if you are thinking I came here to give the people a Metal and Punk Connection reunion you are sadly mistaken! I didn’t come here to help that talentless hack nor did I come here for the bloody idiots that call themselves fans.”
Kate smiles as she continues to speak.
Kate Steele:
“I came here because I saw my good friend Eliza was on the roster and I am hoping to have her back here. It also helps that my best friend Violet is an owner here, and some consider me an adopted member of the Cooper family. I am like the other sister of the family and I will be the biggest star for Violet. You all should be thanking me for coming here this evening. My presence alone has raised ratings has sold tickets. When my merchandise hits the stands I bet that will sell out because you all just can’t get enough of me."
The boos occur and Mackenzie smiles.
Mackenzie Roberts:
“Haters… All of them are haters… Anyway we could sit here and waste our times with you all but you don’t deserve. My Kate has standards and time is money. So we will see you when we see you. Take care.”
There is even more booing but Kate places a finger over her lips as she shushes the crowd.
Kate Steele:
“Shhhhhh silence is golden! In other words shut up! I am the woman that will lure you to your demise. I will leave you all shipwrecked and there isn’t anything that anybody can do about it. Take care wankers. I have a show to watch!"
With that Kate and Mackenzie leave as we go to elsewhere.
The scene cuts backstage to the kitchen area of the arena. Standing in front of a stove with an apron on that says, “Fuck the chef”, is Julian Savell. He has an assortment of feud around him, as if he’s getting ready to cook.
Julian Savell:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to welcome you to the first ever edition of Cooking With Julian. Today we’re going to be dealing with oysters, bananas, grapefruits, tacos and maybe even eggplants. Basically, anything that looks like cocks or vaginas will be part of our program."
Jullian pauses and smiles as he lets everything sink in.
Julian Savell:
"So first and foremost, before you cook, you need to make sure you have a clean kitchen."
Julian looks around the kitchen and nods.
Julian Savell:
"And right now, this kitchen is the cleanest you can get. So, the next part comes the food."
Julian pulls out a raw oyster and a steak before sitting them down next to each other.
Julian Savell:
"With meat like this, you have to tenderize it but you can’t go balls deep, no, you have to just tease it… Like so."
Julian pulls out an eggplant and holds it up in his hand.
Julian Savell:
"This eggplant is the perfect shape and size to tenderize and tease your meat."
Savell starts to gently tap the edge of the eggplant on the oyster meat before pulling it away quickly.
Julian Savell:
"Whew, that was intense. Sometimes you get tempted to do more than just the tip but if you do more than tease, than you ruin the entire thing."
Julian takes a deep breath and exhales slowly.
Julian Savell:
"Sorry, I just needed a minute. Anyway, the final touch to this cooking session is getting hot tub ready. You see, you gotta heat the meat up and get it in the right mood before you can go balls deep and pound away at it. But listen, the hot tub part? It’s not fit for television, so you just have to follow the directions that I told you. Make sure the hot tub is heated up all the way before using those two tickets to Pound Town."
Julian pulls two tickets from the pocket of his apron and they both say “Pound Town” on them.
Julian Savell:
"So there you have it, now you’ve learned something with Cooking With Julian. If you want to learn how to wrestle, pay attention to later tonight when I beat the shit out of Demarcus Gresham. It’s going to be amazing. See you all soon."
Julian gives a thumbs up before grabbing a banana and tapping it on the steak he pulled out earlier before the scene fades out.
