After serving at the local homeless shelter and food bank a couple miles down the road from his house in Kent, Washington, Giosue Davidson decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. There were prostitutes on the corner, searching for their next John, their clothes were cheap and soiled, veiling any semblance of beauty. Drunks and hustlers lined the walls of worn down buildings, either swaying around and blathering loudly about something unimportant, or they were already slumped against the aged brick nearing unconsciousness. Many people walked in groups, shuffling along with their heads down, their bodies and clothing covered with brand names of corporations that could care less about the people wearing their brands as long as they wore them. Many appeared to be under the influence of some drug available in the area. There was even a small church on the corner; but it was long empty and cold.
Life was hard for these people, and Gio knew it. He also knew that, despite how hard he fought and how much effort he put into being a force for good, there will always be people who must live like this. He gritted his teeth as he strode away to his side of town.
It sickened him. Seeing the people indifferent on one side of the railroad tracks, and on the other side there was pain and sadness. That these people could care so little about the livelihood and agony of their fellow Kent citizens was just too much. He let out a sigh as he forced himself to calm down. Getting angry like this before his match against Jay Wilson was pointless, he thought to himself.
He looked over to the Pride Pro cameraman that followed him.
"I realize now that my mission in life goes way beyond the confines of Pride Pro Wrestling. I need to go out and meet the needs of those who are lost. As much as I love the sport of wrestling, my love for the least fortunate is even larger. So win or lose at the Phenomenon PPV, I am leaving the ring for a greater service.”
“But before I step away, I face ‘America’s Most Hated’ Jay Wilson. There isn’t much out there on you except your stint in Boardwalk Wrestling but it seems you revel in being disliked by your peers. Let’s get something clear from the outset, I don’t hate you. But I will initiate you into the high quality talent of Pride Pro Wrestling.”
“I am only a small sampling of what is ahead for you. But at Phenomenon, you will feel an icy grip on your heart. Your breath will come short. Your hands will tremble. Bile will rise to the back of your throat. Your eyes will dart about, frantically seeking that which you cannot find. Glaring at the lights above you, you will try to quiet your breathing in order to hear better, but the frantic thundering of your heartbeat will drown it out."
"You will wonder whether or not you made the right choice by signing with Pride Pro. You will have doubt. The thought will worm its way into the very center of your mind, your very being, choking the breath from your body. Your palms will sweat. You will begin to hear things that aren't really there. Your heart will pound, faster, faster, faster! You will begin to wonder how it is that you came to be in this dire position. The bleeding will not stop. Your arms will shake, and despite the hot air of the arena, you will feel as though you had been cast into the sea and left to die. You will be cold."
“And this is only the beginning. I am your initiation into Pride Pro. If you can’t get passed me, you have no business here.”
“This is my end. You thought this was your beginning or a rebirth. No, Jay Wilson, this is also your end. America doesn’t hate you. But after Phenomenon, you will hate yourself.”
