We’re going on about noon, central standard time, when our scene comes to life. Before we’re even greeted by a single sight we hear what sounds like the whirring of something spinning quickly. Before long the whirring sound slows and we hear a clicking and bouncing. Finally we have sight with our scene, a roulette table coming to a stop.
The chalk white ball has come to rest on Black 35. Our camera pulls back further and we see Christian Michaels leaning over the table, his hands braced upon it.
Ya know folks ya pal good ole CM here isn’t normally a gambling man, but this coming Wednesday myself and four others have no other choice.
He begins his address.
See it seems like every other day we’ve got another promotion closing up shop. That leaves a lot of superb talents temporarily homeless in the sense of a place to play the trade we all share. And if those folks got a bit of sense in their head, and a desire to face the best of the best, they’re setting their sights on Pride Pro Wrestling. Look no further than the signing of Jessie Salco for proof.
A nod.
So now as if being the first one to hold the Coastal Championship wasn’t enough of a driving factor to do what needs to be done to win our match? Now we gotta know the scene is going to get even more congested around here with top-tier talents. I can’t speak for my opponents, but I ain’t looking to be lost in the crowd. I’m looking to stand out from the rest, to have the eyes of the bosses upon me when considering future challengers for for either Erron or RC.
James Williams, so far the only man to defeat me here, seems to think he’s already got the thing wrapped up. Now I know he hasn’t necessarily said as such, but I’m reading between his lines. He’s got it in his mind that going toe to toe with Eliza, beating me, and not losing to Josh Anderson sets him up nicely. But the kid’s just setting himself up for his fall with this non-strategy. Throwing caution to the wind is fine in a one on ones? In this match? There’s four opponents ready to capitalize on any screw-up you make.
Seventeen years in this business and I’ve seen matches somewhat like this. Bet your ass I got myself a strategy. And naw I ain’t giving anyone a single hint as to it. Just rest assured it’s no fluke that I’ve already defeated half of my opponents in my way before. Like I said James is my only loss. And I’m more than ready to avenge that should the chance arise. As for Spider? She worries me. All she does is go out each and every show and kick ass. And I can watch all the tape in the world, but it’s no substitute for having actually faced her before.
Christian stands up straight, looking down at the table. His gaze soon returning to the camera.
Ladies and gentlemen I think by now all yawl watchin at home are familiar with what the five of us in this match can do. You’ve seen us out there night after night putting on some of the best matches you’ll see ANYWHERE! So I gotta wonder; if ya ain’t bought your tickets or made arrangements to watch Phenomenon!....Well what the hell are ya waiting on?! You’re looking at one of the best wrestling shows to hit twenty-seventeen! This a card like no other!
A nod and smirk.
And folks after the entrees that are the earlier matches, you’ve got five of the hungriest talents in this company beginning the main course. I *can* speak for myself and my opponents when I say we’re gonna leave it all out there in the ring for the right and privilege to be recognized as a champion! Whatever you do, however ya make it happen, just do yaself one favor come Wednesday night on the twentieth: Don’t miss it!
