She eases back in her favorite chair. The Pride Television championship rests on her lap, proudly displayed.
Here I am. Still the Television champion, and never prouder. That's the first hurdle cleared. One defense is down, and there are many more to go. I said it last time I spoke, and I will of course re-iterate it right now. It does not matter who, or when you throw at me. Every match is a learning experience. Every match, I am getting better, harder to defeat, harder to stop. As it stands, I'm in my physical prime. With that part maintained, it has become a mental game now. The drive and desire to always get better must always be maintained, even with successful defenses. Because this championship, while I treasure it, and while it's going to be the greatest championship in the history of Pride before I'm done with it, I have larger goals in mind. I'm starting from the bottom, and working my way to the top. The very top of the mountain. As a rookie in this business, I'm planning on being here for a long time, and being a champion for a long time. In fact, I predict there will be more world champions in Pride, before someone takes this championship from me.
And that bring me to one Sammy Duke.
Sammy, you and I are a lot alike, we're both rookies, we're both just getting our feet wet in wrestling, both got the stars in our eyes right here in Pride. But that, unfortunately, is where the similarities end. Weirdly though, you and I go on different roads, but somehow end up at the same places. It was just two short months ago that you and I ended up in the finals of the tournament to crown the first Pride Television champion. And as you can see Sammy, that wasn't you. I am the Pride Television champion. And sure, I didn't beat you, I didn't pin your shoulders to the mat or make you tap out. But in the end, this precious thing became mine. But now, you get a crack at proving that you can do something. You can prove to everyone why they should #StandWithSammy. Heck, if this was any other match, for any other championship, I would be standing there with you, Sammy. I admire your courage and spunk, and the way you bravely charge headlong into the fray. It's great.
Except now, you're facing me. You're trying to take my championship from me. I'm sorry Sammy, but that shit is just not going to happen. You were given this chance, simply by being the other guy. You are simply the guy who was an “also in the match” I'm sorry Sammy, but that doesn't make me very concerned. I talked about this with you before. I can respect a puncher's chance, but when you're trying to take something from me that I worked really hard to get, and even harder to keep the first go around, then it becomes a big, big problem for me. But you see, here's what I'm saying to you really right now. I know you CAN beat me for the Television championship, I know you COULD pull a rabbit out of your hat and walk away victorious. You can capable Sammy, whether is luck or some kind of magic or whatever you have riding on your shoulders, it's entirely possible. What I'm saying to you right now is… you WON'T. You will not be taking anything from me, besides maybe an ass kicking that has to set you straight. I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, because I like ya Sammy, but I won this championship by being better back on Halloween. I was better then, and I'm even better now. I tossed you and Luke around the ring last time. Now, there's just you. Only one person to have my focus on. So, unfortunately for you Sammy, that means you are going to get tossed around a whole heck of a lot more. I get to see just how much luck you really have on your side. But, sadly, Sammy, that amount really isn't going to matter, because it just won't be enough. This championship is going nowhere, except back around my waist. You can stand all you like Sammy, but I'll be more than happy to keep knocking you down to keep what's mine.
