The Icon's coming to us live from Japan, where he's presently on tour. It's the early morning and Icon looks like he just finished his morning run, dropping a gym bag at his feet before approaching the camera, looking a little disheveled in sweaty gym clothes.
To be the very first to do something is a big deal, no matter what it is.
And the Icon is faced with that very opportunity in a few days. See I'm in Japan right now competing for Kamikaze PRO, but ever since I earned the right to compete for this title by beating Christian Michaels I have not been able to quit thinking about this match or about Pride Pro Wrestling.
Icon seemingly can't help but smile excitedly when he talks about the opportunity in front of him. His sneakers crunch on the finely graded gravel as he paces in front of the camera gesticulating in various ways with his hands to make his point.
The people embraced me immediately when I got here and for a young guy like me, it was exciting and it was also humbling. They appreciate and love me because I appreciate and love the people and I'm willing to put my body on the line every time I go out there, for them. That's why I take such risks when I'm in the ring, that's why no matter what happens to me as long as I'm conscious, as long as I'm still drawing breath I'm gonna' be the hardest man in Pride Pro to put down for a three count.
Christian Michaels knows that already because he's already felt the I TRIGGER. He's a great talent and a really experienced veteran, but I knew if I stayed in it just long enough to land the I Trigger my hand would get raised, and lo and behold. Josh Anderson, he already knows about me too. 'Cuz yeah, we fought to a double countout but that means he wasn't able to pin OR submit me. That means he underestimated me. That means he made the biggest mistake you can possibly make facing an Icon, and that's taking it easy on an Icon.
There's a little intensity, fire and defiance in those words; being able to stand up to a talent like Josh Anderson and fight him to a double countout is a pretty impressive performance for this kid.
And Deacon Thomas. There's the unknown, there's the wild card. He doesn't know anything about me and vice versa. I can tell you this; he's about to get really familiar with me because I'm going to be in his face from the word go, every chance I get I'm going to be hitting him with absolutely everything I have, because I want this BAD, I want this like nobody else in this match wants this.
Icon's got an air of confidence about him that, if you didnt know him already he wouldn't look or sound like a rookie; he speaks with the conviction of a veteran that's been around the game for a while. It's plainly clear with Icon's body language that he really does believe in himself and his gifts.
The Coastal Championship...the chance to be the first EVER. That sounds like a job that an Icon can, should, and will do. Just remember to strap in tight, Pride Pro, because I'm ready to give you a performance you're going to remember for the rest of your life. A match like this, and an athlete like me is why Pay-Per-View came to be. And I'll have plenty of I-Triggers for everybody because I am the uncrowned inaugural Pride Pro Wrestling Coastal Champion.
Icon throws up the Iconic Pose, steps back from the camera and grabs his gym bag, breaking off into a sprint again as we go to black.
