REAWAKENING
Pride Family,
Pride Pro Wrestling has indeed come back to life!
Nine words have never given me so much joy. I have been working on this project for a few months now. Almost from the start, it seemed like it was destined to happen. Unlike the last time around, people jumped at the idea of signing on for this journey, and I feel like the people we have behind the scenes are the right people for the job. Pride's history, especially near the end of our last run, created a lot of negativity. I promise all of you that those days are long behind us. We have left Cody Taylor, and his cohorts, behind and are starting something new. I want to thank all of you for at least taking a look at us.
It is my hope that Pride will be seeing a few familiar faces on the roster, but those that weren't involved the first time around should not feel like they are starting at a disadvantage. I am sure rumors still circulate about how things were manipulated, or even rigged, in the past. Part of finding new staff, and a new co-owner was to reassure any who wish to join. There are not going to be any favors handed out to friends, family, staff, familiar faces, or anyone new that comes in. Things are changing this time around, and I feel those changes are for the best.
For instance, our roster used to be separated by gender. Those days are over. One look around the landscape of this industry today will tell you that women are more than capable of competing against men. There is no doubt in my mind that a female is capable of being the face of a company, and carrying the top championship. To demote them to their own roster, and their own title, feels unfair. We are one roster from this day forward.
Enough about the things that you do not really care about though. I am under no illusion that you are all reading this to learn the boring housekeeping things going on backstage. What you want to know about is how exactly we intend to come back from the dead. I can answer that in one word: Reawakening.
As long as we fill all spots within a reasonable time frame, Pride: Reawakening will take place on October 2nd from Jet City, WA. It will feature the one night Lion's Pride Event, consisting of the first 15 individuals that wish to take part. Unlike other companies, this introductory show will not feature individuals competing for the top prize in the company. In fact, there will not be any championships on the line at all. Instead, this Reawakening event will be used as a way to reintroduce the owners, the staff, and the board of directors to the talent in this industry. We do not want to make the same mistakes that we did last time. We do not want to hand out title contenderships to the most popular names that sign a contract. We do not want to mistakenly assign people that are unreliable to a series of qualifying matches. There is only one way that we can determine the level of talent on our roster, and that is to see them compete.
Those of you that are turned off by the idea of not immediately coming in and being handed a title opportunity are, respectfully, just not the people that we are looking for. That was the kind of thinking that dug Pride into a hole that has taken years to get out of. Pride Pro Wrestling is going to get back to being a place where you earn the opportunities you receive. Signing a name at the bottom of a contract, in my opinion, does not earn you anything more than a chance to show us what you can do. Your spot on this roster will be determined by your talents inside our ring.
More details about the Lion's Pride Event, and Pride: Reawakening will be coming a little later tonight. As for now, I just wanted to welcome all of you, and make an attempt to put our best foot forward.
I hope most of you choose to give us a chance. I don't think any of you that do will be disappointed in what we have to offer.
