The cameras start rolling in the arena, first focused on the center of the ring. The ring announcer, Heather Cooper stands in the center of the ring, equipped with a microphone. The roar of the crowd makes it impossible for her to speak as the lights in the arena dim, with the exception of those that are beaming down on the ring. The cheers break down into a PRIDE chant which the fans carry until Heather raises the microphone to her lips.
Heather Cooper:
"IS EVERYBODY READY?!!?"
She smiles widely as the crowd roars to life once again in unanimous cheers.
Heather Cooper:
"Then without further adieu, I would like to welcome all of those in attendance, and everyone watching around the world to Pride Pro Wrestling's ReAwakening!!!!"
As she lowers the microphone, and the crowd erupts again, the cameras cut away to the stage where blue and white pyrotechnics shoot down from the rafters, hitting the stage and seemingly triggering more blasts of around the giant screen. As the smoke from the blasts starts to disappear, Twenty One Pilots' "Heathens" starts playing through the arena PA almost dwarfed by the cheers. The screen comes to life with a video package for the event.

The Lion's Pride Event!
As the smoke and what not settles from the huge explosive introduction of ReAwakening. Suddenly the PA announces the song "Stomp" by Young Buck featuring Ludacris and T.I. announcing the entrance of one Deacon Thomas. The crowd inside the arena erupt in cheers, getting to see one of they marquee names in this company making their way down to the ring. Deacon steps out onto the stage area with a broad smile on his face, he is wearing his in ring fight gear minus his MMA gloves. With the addition of his pro fit DT hat and a sleeveless DT Everywhere shirt.
Parker Wayde:
"Well here we go, just starting off the kick off of Pride and one of the entrants to the Lion's Pride Tournament is coming out here."
Coby Quik:
"We weren't expecting him until later on tonight, so what will Deacon Thomas that is so important he needs to say it before his match?"
Thomas enters the ring by leaping over the top rope with a jolt of excitement yelling out before grabbing a microphone from the ring side time keeper. His music fades and the crowd quiet down some as well.
Deacon Thomas:
"Hello out there ladies and gentlemen in the wide world of Pride Nation. How are y'all doin tonight?"
The crowd erupts again with loud cheers and chants.
Deacon Thomas:
"Well I am sure y'all are wondering why I have decided to come out here and start talking on a microphone. Well the answer is quite simple."
Deacon pauses as he continues to smile, he moves around in the ring looking out into the capacity crowd.
Deacon Thomas:
"Well I am out here because I need to say something with my words just in case my actions later tonight go over your heads. Y'all will see me kick some ass tonight, believe me. And I am one that much rather have my actions and skills inside this ring be the teller of my story but they say that someone with mic skills is more entertaining than a pure athlete. So here I am."
He laughs a bit.
DEACON THOMAS:
"Anyway, back to the point. Now folks I was the fourth member of this roster. I was fourth to sign my name on that dotted line. I don't wanna remain as a fourth member of the roster. I am not here to be in any other place or rank except number one. Now I am sure there are nineteen other folks in the back saying the same thing or discounting my words. That is fine and dandy with me. Once they figure out that the instructions on the shampoo bottle means to repeat once, not continue to do so, then they can prove me wrong."
The crowd erupts in laughter as does Deacon.
Deacon Thomas:
"Now I know that joke was a bit tacky and old, but I really don't care y'all. I will be winning the tournament tonight and I will prove to y'all and the big wigs that I am the rightful face of this company in the very near future. Alright folks I will allow the real action begin, just allow me to leave y'all with this."
He pauses a moment. Allowing the suspense of the moment to build slightly.
DEACON THOMAS:
"I am Deacon Thomas, and I am Notoriously Dangerous, and y'all will soon find out what exactly that means. See y'all soon."
With that he drops the microphone as "Stomp" blasts the PA system. Before leaving the ring, Deacon jumps up to the middle rope in the near corner, screaming in excitement before sliding over the top rope to the apron and starting to make his way up the ramp.
The cameras cut to the announce table just in front of the stage where competitors will be making their entrances. The music dies down a little, but can still be heard in the background playing over the crowd noise. Parker Wayde and Coby Quik are both already in their seats, and ready to get the night's action underway.
Coby Quik:
"Some people said this day would never come, but here we are, live and ready for a night packed with action from every Pride star new or old. I am Coby Quik, and this taller,
darker, but less handsome individual to my left is Parker Wayde!"
Parker Wayde:
"Welcome to Pride ladies and gentlemen! This night is huge. I was a member of the Pride roster last time around, and I have still never seen an event this big. Before the end of the night we will have gotten a look at all twenty-six current members of the Pride roster, and word is there might even be a few waiting to make surprise appearances later on."
Coby Quik:
"More of a surprise than Deacon Thomas coming out and getting things kicked off?"
Parker Wayde:
"You have to admire a guy that wants to come out and make a statement before anyone else. He may not have been the first to sign, but tonight he was definitely the first to make an impression."
Coby Quik:
"That's not to say others won't have their chance. Twenty-six competitors and a grand total of seventeen matches! Of course, we won't know what the second round or Lion's Pride Final will look like until after we get started, but these first ten matches of the event are big enough bombshells on their own."
Parker Wayde:
"We have Julian Savell against Wyatt Warner, Jessica Nitoh taking on Deacon Thomas, Xavier Laroux in action against Garrick Reid, and Drew Simmons taking on Anica Townsend in the first round alone!"
Coby Quik:
"...and that is not even half of what we are going to be seeing in the first round alone."
Parker Wayde:
"We also have Pride newcomers and first signees RC Tucker and Jessica Jones set to do battle, Ollie Maverick taking on Eliza Valentine in a battle that has gotten brutal on social media, a returning Luke Jackson taking on Jet City rookie Kendall James, Erron Wilder trying to take down the #IStandWithSammy movement created by Sammy Duke, and Holly Rhodes squaring off against Ryan Keys."
Coby Quik:
"...but none of that is what we are going to see first. Word is that General Manager Phillip Ripley stepped in and switched things up a little. The Six Pack Challenge Competitors will no longer be kicking off the show for us, but instead will be showcased just before the Lion's Pride Finals."
Parker Wayde:
"Does that mean what I think it means?"
Coby Quik:
"Indeed it does. ReAwakening is getting underway in the most gifted way possible. DeMarcus Gresham makes his return to the Pride Pro ring against Ace Marshall, and if I'm not mistaken, that match is about to get underway right...."
Parker Wayde:
"NOW!"
Coby Quik:
"That's What's Up!"
The lights dim to full darkness as intro voice of Lupe Fiasco’s voice speaks. The quote standing out is ‘They say form follows function….And if you just function properly then things will form themselves’
Heather Cooper:
"Introducing first, from right here in Seattle, Washington! Please welcome back to Pride, "The Enlightened One" DeMarcus Gresham!"
At that moment a spotlight hits the stage with DeMarcus Gresham there standing with his back to the crowd so the ‘Gifted’ along is black jacket is clear for all to see. He stands there for a moment allowing the spotlight to engulf him as the crowd boos to high heaven against him. With his head down he turns around staying on the stage for a moment before stepping forward. In every step the floorboard beneath him lights up in a Michael Jackson Billie Jean music video kind of way as well as the house lights lighting up a little more and more with each step. As he walks down he sneers at the people around him dissatisfied by their presence. By the time he reaches ringside all the lights are fully on and the spotlight and illuminating floors stop. He stands there for a moment rolling his shoulders before he jumps from the floor to the ring apron impressively. He bends into the ring where he slowly takes off his jacket and in a ceremonious fashion lays the jacket on the nearest turnbuckle with the ‘Gifted’ laid out for all to see. Turning around he smirks before pointing at the jacket letting it be known exactly who he is with the chorus of boos and his theme music surrounding him.
Heather Cooper:
"And his opponent..."
A countdown starts on the big screen in fast progression from five to one before "Adrenalize" hits the speakers and the spotlights start to spin and focus in on the stage. The fans erupt in mixed reactions as on stage Ace Marshall steps out with Oakley shades and a black reflective jacket.
"ADRENALIZE ME"
He pauses before raises his arms up for the crowd as strobe lights break out throughout the arena for the crowd in different shades of red, blue and green in rapid succession. Smoke erupts from underneath him and along the ramp way. He snaps his fingers and bobs his head before pointing out to the crowd.
Heather Cooper:
"Making his way to the ring, from Houston, Texas, The One Man Extravaganza, Ace Marshall!"
He makes his way down the ramp. Reaching the ring Ace slides in before standing up and running his hands through his hair, singing along with the song. He steps over and climbs up a turnbuckle before looking out into the crowd while thrusting an arm up. Dropping down after a moment he turns his back to the crowd before removing his jacket and shades. He sets them to the side of the apron for JD Wright to grab just as the match is about to be underway.
Neither man disappointed in the a match worthy of getting not only ReAwakening started, but launching Pride as a company. In the early going, DeMarcus Gresham toyed with Ace Marshall, refusing attempts for lock-ups by backing away at the last moment three times before Ace Marshall had enough. Ace gained an early advantage hitting DeMarcus with a stiff knee to his ribs that gave him control of the ring. He continued the assault, eventually taking DeMarcus to the mat and using his speed advantage to keep the powerhouse there. The Gifted one attempted to fight back to his feet, only to be hit with the running knee that Ace Marshall coined One Eye'd Royal which led to the first pin attempt of the new regime in Pride.
Coby Quik:
Some would say Ace played his cards too soon there!
Parker Wayde:
DeMarcus Gresham is not a person to take lightly. It was a smart move for Ace to drop a bomb like that early and try to sneak away with a victory without expending too much energy in the first round.
Coby Quik:
It looks like DeMarcus had a little more fight in him than Ace anticipated.
Ace attempted a second pin after DeMarcus kicked out of the first, but he is more forcefully pushed away the second time. JD Wright inserted himself for the first time, backing Ace up so that he could check on DeMarcus. However, as the official turned back to the downed man, Ace rushed past him, going for the knee strike a second time. This time there was no paydirt to be found. DeMarcus narrowly avoided the strike and followed up the surprise by propelling himself to his feet and taking Ace down with a spear that drew winces from those shown in the crowd. Instead of getting back to his feet, The Gifted One positioned himself over his opponent and rained down both left and right hands while Ace tried his best to cover up. For the second time in the evening, JD Wright had to step up and interrupt the action. DeMarcus stepped away to avoid the disqualification, but the damage was definitely done.
Parker Wayde:
Ace may have made a mistake there. DeMarcus looks ready to end this thing.
DeMarcus stalked his weakened opponent, picking him apart in a methodical assault. When Ace finally battled back to his feet, the two exchanged blows in the center of the squared circle with the powerhouse DeMarcus Gresham eventually gaining the advantage and backing Ace up towards a corner. Showing some willpower to persevere, Ace fought a few steps away from the corner after landing a series of strikes. However, when he went for his patented double-arm DDT, DeMarcus powered forward, driving the smaller man back into the corner with a shoulder strike. Ace was forced to abandoned his grip, which left him open for DeMarcus to connect with Royal, a powerbomb into the turnbuckles. JD Wright tried to step in to check on Ace a second time, but this time DeMarcus was not so accommodating. He shoved the official out of his way, and dragged Ace towards the center of the ring before applying his Checkmate camel clutch. When Ace Marshall was unresponsive, JD Wright was forced to call for the bell.
Heather Cooper:
Ladies and Gentlemen your winner via knockout, and advancing into the second round of the Lion's Pride Event, "The Gifted One" DeMarcus Gresham!
JD Wright went to raise DeMarcus' hand following the announcement, but the victor pulls away, glaring at the official before exiting the ring. He raises both of his arms and starts to backpedal up the ramp. The cameras that followed him catch him holding up two fingers, mouthing the words 'two to go' before cutting away to the backstage area.
Our Pride Pro cameras cut to backstage where we find one of the newest Pride recruits, Sammy Duke. He was leaned back against the wall dressed in a baggie t-shirt with a big hoodie over the top of it and jeans, the ensemble completed with a “gold” chain dangling from his neck that looked like something you’d find at a Walgreens for ten bucks.
Sammy Duke:
“So many nerves! My first actual, pro level match, televised even. And that I could be going through two matches and a brutal half hour finale...what a way to debut! I hope I’m read--”
“Ready to level up?”
The camera spun towards the direction of the voice and the fans in attendance cheered as “The Paladin” Jessica Nitoh made her presence known. She’s all set in her ring attire, from the Daryl Dixon angel-winged jacket to the Green Lantern Converse Sneakers, her blonde hair tied back in a stylish braid.
Jessica Nitoh:
“I don’t think puns will give you extra EXP, though…”
Sammy spun round, right round, to see the face of one of his fellow compatriots to the ReAwakening line up and perhaps future finalist to the Pride King of the Mountain match!
Sammy Duke:
“Hey, you’re--!”
He cleared his throat, clearly was a bit starstruck here.
Sammy Duke:
“We talked a bit a week ago about...video games, in the lead up to this huge show! The one and only, Jessica Nitoh! Like, as a fan I’ve watched you time after time, but now I’m all...here I am! And here you are! I’m gonna have a fanboy moment if I can’t stay calm…”
He turned away, shaking his head side to side in a poor attempt at keeping his cool. Poor attempt indeed.
Sammy Duke:
“Wow. it just. It’s like I’ve crossed the line of fan and professional. Uhh, manners, yes, I have them!”
He extended his hand towards Jess cordially. She was slightly taken aback by the near-fanboy moment, but she offered a gentle smile and accepted his hand. Her grip was impressively firm for a small woman as they shook hands.
Jessica Nitoh:
“It’s nice to meet you, Sammy. Please don’t be nervous. Three years ago, I was in your position, new and inexperienced in the wrestling industry. I can only speak for myself when I honestly say that it gets easier over time.”
Sammy Duke:
“Oh. Well yes, I understand. Like I’m here for the long haul, it’ll all get to be the norm. But right now? I’m just...wrestling’s number one fan.”
He cast his gaze to the ground for a moment, then exclaimed.
Sammy Duke:
“Hey, I got it. Did you know? If no two people see color the same way does that mean color is a pigment of your imagination?”
Sammy smiled at his own joke, but the smile faded as his eyes lock off camera. The small tattooed Spider stood to the side, staring at the two with a condescending frown on her face. She shook her head with a quick roll of the eyes. Jessica turned her head in Spider’s direction and a slight frown crossed her face. Before she could say anything, however...
Sammy Duke:
“Huh, what was that?”
Sammy spoke up, his eyes quickly darting around the small hallway, his body spinning around to find the eerie feeling. It didn’t take long.
Sammy Duke:
“Y-you’re...that arachnid lady from the Twitter? Spider, yes? Are you...excited for tonight? Did you come to clap for my witty sense of humor?”
Spider said nothing, just cocked her head slightly to the side, examining Sammy. She narrowed her eyes. Sammy looked across at her narrow eyed gaze. His face wasn’t one of concern, or fear, but...curiosity.
Sammy Duke:
“It’s...a joke! That’s what I do, I make jokes to make the people laugh and smile! At least for a couple minutes out of their day.”
He extended his hand out in front of her.
Sammy Duke:
“My name’s Sammy. What are you most looking forward to about tonight’s show?”
Spider eyed Sammy’s hand, contemplating it for a moment. Cautiously, she accepted it, shaking his hand, but remaining ever-silent, not so much as acknowledging that he even asked a question. As awkward a handshake as any while he quickly glanced over to Jessica, before back to Spider.
Sammy Duke:
“Well, I’m sure if we face each other in this big match, we can wish each other good luck and a clean fight. You seem like a person on the up and up. I mean I think you do. Maybe. Or like, I want to believe that?”
Spider blinked a few times. She shook her head again, looking from Sammy to Jessica. For a long moment, she kept her eyes locked on the two of them as she took a few steps backwards and finally turned and walked off down the hall.Sammy watched as the eerily silent woman made her way down the hall, his eyes returning to Jessica once more.
Sammy Duke:
“You uhh...you know what’s her deal?”
He turned his eyes toward the hall once more. Just ever-so-curiously. A careful observer would have noticed that Jessica’s eyes stayed on Spider, even as she continued down the hall. She shook her head slowly and her hands remained steadily at her sides.
Jessica Nitoh:
“Sometimes… people will only speak their minds when it’s necessary. She may have just been scouting the competition.”
She pressed her lips together, but otherwise her eyes never veered away from the mysterious woman. Once more, she spoke to Sammy without looking away.
Jessica Nitoh:
“You should get ready, Sammy. It’s game time.”
Sammy Duke:
“Yeah...yeah, I guess it is…"
He looked back down the hallway again. Like a trainwreck, he couldn’t look away.
Sammy Duke:
“Uhh, good luck out there. May the best competitor win. Maybe you and I even end up in the Pride King of the Mountain match?!”
Jessica blinked and raised an eyebrow. A tiny smile crossed her face before she began to make her way down the hall as well.
Jessica Nitoh:
“Only time will tell!”
The cameras pan back to the backstage area where the former star, Chelsea Payne is leaving a dressing room. She's smiling and goes to turn but doesn't see someone approaching her from behind. She turns and then lets out a little yelp, raising her arm to hit the person who had startled her. Pride Owner, Jason Halich is quick on the catch and firmly takes her wrist before her fist can make contact with his face. The look of fear turns to anger and Chelsea pulls her arm back.
Chelsea Payne:
"What the heck Jason...? Why you gotta go and sneak up on me like that?"
He offers her a confused, curious look.
Jason Halich:
"I didn't take you as someone who scares easily. Maybe you have been out of a ring too long."
He offers a smirk and Chelsea rolls her eyes.
Chelsea Payne:
"Are you going to start doing that again? You ambush me at JCSL and now here? You do know that I won't be medically cleared for another month."
Jason nods.
Jason Halich:
"I am well aware. I also know that your contract with your other company expired while you were out and you chose not to renew with them, which means you are a free agent. Other people may not have been able to see your worth but I do."
Chelsea doesn't seem convinced.
Chelsea Payne:
"I don't need a handout Jay."
It was Jay's turn to seem insulted now.
Jason Halich:
"I do not give anyone handouts, least of all a woman who does not really have much for anyone to jump on. You may have held a title but you did not hold it very long and against an opponent that you could easily beat one-handed. Recently, I witnessed someone telling someone else that they were slipping. It was not anything new being said but it was the person delivering the message that made the difference. So that is what I am doing. You got lazy and now, you are going to sign here and show everyone what a third generation wrestler looks like."
His tone seems to shock her into silence, not something many people could do. Jason takes this opportunity to start walking away.
Jason Halich:
"I expect that the next time you are at Jet City, you will pop into my office for a few minutes to discuss your future, yes?"
Chelsea moves her mouth to try and say something but nothing comes out as the pride owner walks away, seemingly happy with the outcome.
In a sporadic moment, the arena lights go out and the fans rise in heightened anticipation. An animated AI voice resonates an important announcement.
Silence. The fans are stirring in high anticipation of what comes next. That’s when the introduction of “Plane to Spain” by Basshunter kick starts from the speakers and the gaming techno builds the hype of the fans. Soon a single spotlight shines down on the stage and reveals Jessica Sears wielding her Captain America shield with her right arm and holding her Eternal Tiare in her left hand. The fans cheer with excitement and she beams at them.
Heather Cooper:
Introducing first, from Queens, New York! She is “The Nerd Extraordinaire” Jessica Nitoh!!!
Embracing their energy, Jessica makes her way towards the ring and tags some of the fans along the way. She circles around the ring, interacting with the audience, and then she jumps onto the ring apron. Once she steps into the ring through the bottom and middle ropes, Jessica crosses the tiare in front of the shield and she yells “Level up!” The fans echo this and cheer her on as she poses for the flash photography. Removing the jacket and the necklace, she hands them-- along with the tiare and the shield-- to a nearby official and she bounces with anticipation for the match to begin.
Heather Cooper:
...and her opponent...
Lights dim inside the arena, the crowd falls silent. Various images of great champions and victories throughout history scroll across the projection screen. Finally after a few moments the words 'All I Do Is Win' hit the screen then ‘Stomp’ by Young Buck Feat. Ludacris and TI hits the speakers. Slowly emerging from the backstage area is Deacon Thomas.
Heather Cooper:
From Sin City, and weighing in at 235lbs, Deacon Thomas!
A broad smile across his face as a mixed reaction throughout the crowd radiates toward him. With a southern swagger, Thomas makes his way to the ring as the lights come back to normal. Stepping up the steps to the ring. He pauses and poses for the crowd before stepping through the ropes. He then leans into one of the corners looking across the ring at Jessica as his music fades.
Coby Quik:
"I wonder how Deacon Thomas is going to handle a smaller, faster opponent."
Parker Wayde:
"The man is a champion in his own right, and much more of a striker than a high flyer in my opinion. Jessica needs to be careful not to get caught playing his game or this one could be over quickly."
Jessica did not appear even remotely intimidated from the start of the match-up. As the two approached each other in the center, Deacon went for a lockup only to be surprised by Jessica's Punch-Punch-Kick combination. Unfortunately for her, her size and strength disadvantage became crystal clear when it did not work to derail Deacon at all. He powered through it, taking control of the match with an arm drag when Jessica charged him. Deacon kept the high flying gamer girl down, extending Jesssica's arm, and twisting her wrist before dropping a few elbows on her shoulder.
Coby Quik:
"Deacon is already trying to soften her up for that arm-triangle submission."
Jessica eventually fights through the pain, getting up to her feet and sending a few closed fists to the male's ribs. Instead of releasing her, Deacon uses his hold on her wrist to pull her towards him and clothesline her back to the mat. Before the woman could force herself up, Deacon draped himself over her, looking for the surprise fall, only for Jessica to kick out before JD's hand could even slap the mat a second time.
Parker Wayde:
"Jessica Nitoh has been a champion before, and has fought men Deacon's size on several occasions. It is going to take more than that to put her away."
Deacon went back to the well following the pin attempt, grabbing Jessica by the wrist and twisting her arm. The blonde was not going to be put back down this time though. She fought to her feet, and when Deacon surrendered the hold in exchange for whipping her across the ring, Jessica leaped to the middle rope, only to springboard back and connect with a flying forearm smash that brought the crowd to their feet. To stay on offense, Jessica pushed the tempo, hitting and moving before Deacon could get his bearings to wear him down and keep him off balance. However, when he fought up to a knee, she had to change strategies, landing a picture perfect dropkick that put the man on his back. With that, Jessica ascended to the top rope, and signaled for the end, only for Deacon to get up onto his hands and knees.
Coby Quik:
"I think Jessica expected Deacon to stay down long enough for her to get into position."
Parker Wayde:
"Time to go with plan B if she has one."
Now caught out of position for her Silver Moon Shockwave, Jessica rose to her pull height, leaping up into the air, likely in an attempt to connect with her double footstomp to the back of Deacon's head. In a flash of his own speed, Deacon pushes himself up while she is midair, and catches her on his shoulders. The fans look on in awe as he turns. Jessica fights back, sending left and right hands down at Deacon's face. She nearly escapes, attempting to drop down behind him, but Deacon manages to catch her by her arms, and bring her down with his Razor's Edge style maneuver, Electromagnetic.
Coby Quik:
"What a counter!"
He raises his feet to cover the downed gamer's shoulders and leans forward into pin attempt that gives him the victory.
Heather Cooper:
"Your winner via pinfall and advancing to round two of the Lion's Pride Event, Deacon Thomas!"
"Stomp" by Young Buck fills the arena PA system as JD Wright raises Deacon's hand in victory. Deacon crosses the ring, and hops up onto the second turnbuckle. He points up at the screen to a graphic of the updated bracket that pops up. Jessica's name gets scratched off the list while his moves on to the second round. With a final shot of Deacon looking confident, we cut away backstage.
The scene opens with Maddie Wilson backstage.
Maddie Wilson:
"Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time “The White Tiger” and “Perfect Chaos” RC Tucker."
RC jumps in from behind Maddie with a ‘TA-DA’ noise and spirit fingers. It causes Maddie to jump, but RC and Maddie both laugh it off.
RC Tucker:
"Sorry young one, but it was too good an opportunity."
Maddie Wilson:
"Fine with me. Do your thing, I'll do mine."
RC nods, motioning for her to continue.
Maddie Wilson:
"RC, you haven’t been in action for two and a half months and now you are going into a tournament starting with your upcoming opponent Jessica Jones. Do you feel this gives you a disadvantage?"
RC Tucker:
"You know the one thing nice about being married to someone like the Chaos Wife is the training doesn’t stop. My ring skills are just as fresh as when I left. Oh one thing though…"
RC puts his fist in front of his mouth.
RC Tucker:
"Shameless plug alert…"
RC lowers his fist and looks at the camera.
RC Tucker:
"Don’t forget to check out Daisy Rose’s appearance at C-Squared-Con next Tuesday."
RC looks back at Maddie.
RC Tucker:
Back to business, I may not have been around for awhile, but I’m “The White Tiger” RC Tucker. I don’t back down to a challenge. So whether I’m rusty or not isn’t an issue for me. But if anyone does believe I’ve got some kinda ring rust on me.
RC strikes a pose.
RC Tucker:
Just watch this.
With a stated “whoosh”, RC rushes off leaving a bewildered Maddie behind as the scene fades out.
The lights in the arena flash blue as the opening riffs of Crush 40’s “I Am (All Of Me)” hits the speakers. As the music hits a crescendo, RC rushes out on the stage.
Heather Cooper:
Making his way to the ring, "Perfect Chaos" RC TUCKER!!!!!
He starts by looking around at the audience and fires them up and they reply in kind. He nods at the crowd and then grabs a camera and films the audience. After a few seconds he faces the camera to him and says "Here comes trouble! BIZAM!" He hands the camera back and charges the ring and slides in. RC goes to a corner and poses. After he hops down, he plays to the crowd before warming up for his match as his music fades.
Heather Cooper:
...and his first round opponent....
Just as "One Woman Army" by Porcelain Black starts to play throughout the arena, Jessica walks out from the back with a confident smile across her face. As she stands on the top of the entrance ramp, Jessica is greeted with a chorus of boos. She doesn't seem to mind their reaction though and shrugs it off as she heads down the aisle.
Heather Cooper:
"From Miami, Florida...this is the Blue Chip Beauty...Jesssssssicaaaaaaaaa Jonessssssssssssssss!"
On her way to the ring, Jessica makes sure that no fans touch her as she makes her way up the steel steps and onto the ring apron. She gives her backside a shake getting a rise from the males while the women just boo. Jessica laughs at the reaction as she steps between the ropes. Once inside the ring, Jessica taunts and mouth off to the crowd until her music subside. She then goes over to her side of the ring and leans back against the ropes while waiting for the match to begin.
Coby Quik:
"We definitely have some clashing styles here."
Parker Wayde:
"I'm not sure that you can put RC Tucker in any category. Yes, he's a high flyer, but..."
Coby Quik:
"Also comes off bat shit crazy? Yeah, I think it is part of the guy's charm though."
As soon as the bell rang, RC Tucker sprinted from his corner in an attempt to gain the early advantage. It did not go as planned though as Jessica Jones countered with a drop toe hold that put him flat on his face on the mat. The blonde was quick to get back to her feet, yelling something at him about not being a comic book character that the microphones around the ring only picked up parts of. Jessica kept control of the early going, hitting a running knee to the side of RC's head as he was trying to get up to his feet and then attempting to lift RC up to his knees to go for her snap DDT. However, it was RC's turn to counter, and he shoved her away. When Jessica rebounded off the ropes and back to him, he propelled himself forward and landed the bicycle kick he calls the Chaos Strike.
Parker Wayde:
"Jessica might be out cold after that!"
Coby Quik:
"It doesn't look that RC has it in him to capitalize on it though."
Instead of staying on offense, RC fell down to a knee, trying to shake out the cobwebs from Jessica's early flurry. The two competitors made it back to their feet at the same time. RC throws a right hand her direction, but before it could land Jessica issues him a hard slap across the cheek that draws boos from the crowd. With little more than his Pride hurt, RC grabs her wrist and whips her into the nearest corner before charging in, attempting a splash-like move. Instead, Jessica leans back on the turnbuckles and raised her feet from the mat, catching him midair with both boots and sending him sprawling back to the mat.
Parker Wayde:
"Jessica Jones still has some fight left!"
Coby Quik:
"She has the momentum, what can she do to keep RC down though?"
Almost as if she heard them, Jessica lifted herself up onto the second rope. When RC rose from the mat, she jumped forward, hooking an arm around RC's head as she flew before spiking him to the mat with a tornado DDT that energized the crowd. Moving quickly, Jessica rolled him onto his back and draped herself over him for the cover, but JD Wright barely got to two before RC was able to roll his shoulder up.
Parker Wayde:
"That was a less than emphatic kick out from RC. Jessica's offense is clearly working."
Coby Quik:
"She needs to put him away now if she is going to have anything left in the tank for the second round and possible final."
Jessica backs away as RC rises, and charges once he is up on a knee, looking for her scissor kick. However, at the last possible second, RC pops up, and manages to grab her foot. Off balance, Jessica hops on her one foot while RC backs her up towards the center of the ring. She swings both hands at him frantically, trying to land something to free herself. When that did not work, she jumped with her planted foot, bringing her leg around and looking for an enziguri. RC managed to duck it without releasing his hold on her foot, and with Jessica face down on the mat, easily changes up his grip to apply his California Crab submission.
Coby Quik:
"Jessica is in the middle of the ring!"
Parker Wayde:
"This is not good. She needs a rope break but I am not sure that she can drag his weight towards the ropes!"
In an impressive feat of endurance, Jessica managed to slowly crawl her way over to the ropes. The fans are disappointed when she reached out and wrapped her fingers around the bottom rope after more than a full minute struggling. JD Wright started his count for RC to break the hold, but The White Tiger had no intention of letting her go. He raised up off of Jessica, taking the pressure off, but only long enough to drag her back to the center of the ring before sitting back down. With no alternative, Jessica was forced to tap her hand on the mat, giving RC the victory.
Heather Cooper:
"Advancing to the second round via submission, "Perfect Chaos" RC TUCKER!!!"
The crowd erupts with cheers as "I Am" by Crush 40 plays through the arena PA system. JD Wright raises RC's hand, and then goes to check on Jessica as we cut away to the announce table.
When we cut back to the table we see Coby Quik leaning off to the left of it where fans are seated. Several people are holding out things for him to sign, and with a sharpie in hand, he was making dreams come through. He is only brought back to the job at hand by Parker tossing a stack of papers from the desk at him.
Parker Wayde:
"I apologize for my easily distracted partner. Clearly he has trouble staying focused."
Coby pushes backwards, his chair rolling until it makes contact with Parker's. Coby turns, smiling widely at the camera.
Coby Quik:
"Don't blame me because people love me, but have already forgotten that you used to compete."
Parker opens his mouth to argue the point, but Coby has already moved on, addressing the camera instead of his partner.
Coby Quik:
"What a night of action so far! Three matches, and we have seen knockout and submission victories, who would have expected that?"
Parker Wayde:
"Probably someone that is familiar with the competitors and knew how they liked to close out matches, but preparation is not your strong suit..."
Offended, Coby turns away from the camera, glaring at Parker.
Coby Quik:
"...and what is that supposed to mean? You trying to say I am not prepared to call the action? I think I have been doing great so far!"
Parker Wayde:
"Then what's coming up next?"
Coby looks at Parker, then the camera, and then down at the table in front of him. Only then does he realize that the papers Parker threw at him were his notes for the night. When he does not have an answer, Parker helps him out.
Parker Wayde:
"I'll give you a hint, he hit you in the face with a sledgehammer last time you were in a ring..."
The realization washes over Coby's face and he shakes his head in disappointment.
Coby Quik:
"This is supposed to be a joyous occasion, and you want to go bringing that u---"
Before he can finish, the two have their attention pulled away by the crew on the stage being set up. The lights in the arena go out, and as the announcers look on, the cameras cut to the stage. The spotlights focusing on the stage where Porcelain Black was standing are the only remaining lights in the arena. The cameras pan out to show the whole stage with everything needed for her live performance set up and ready to go.
Alaina Beaton:
"Seattle, Washington! Open up those veins! It’s time for your fix!"
The surrounding band took their cue as they started to play out the harmony, Alaina singing along.
Alaina Beaton:
♫The side effects are sexual, are you down for a taste!? The side effects are sexual and you love the way I say!♫
That two beat pause hit as emerging through those curtains, much to the approval of the crowd, would be none other than “YOUR Favorite Drug” Xavier Laroux.
Alaina Beaton:
♫I’M YOUR FAVORITE DRUG! YOUR FAVORITE DRUG! JUST ONE HIT IS NEVER ENOUGH!♫
Making his way to the middle of the stage, being serenaded to the ring, Laroux threw his arms high into the air, yelling out as the crowd ate it up, cheering loudly for their hometown hero. Decked out in a tight fitting white tank top and those tattered blue denim jeans, Laroux stopped once he got to the singing Alaina. The two shared a tight hug as Xavier turned away, continuing down that ramp as she sung.
Rolling up under the bottom set of ropes, Xavier popped up to his feet, that oh so arrogant smirk plastered to his face. Walking to the bottom left corner of the ring, he leaned through those ropes, being handed a microphone. After flipping it on, Laroux made his way to the middle of the ring, bringing that microphone up as he began to speak.
Xavier Laroux:
"Ladies and gentlemen, y’all havin a good ass time tonight?"
The crowd cheered out in agreement to Laroux’s question.
Xavier Laroux:
"Goodgood, things bout to be kicked up six or seven notches here cause in justa lilbit, ole dude is gonna wander his ass on down here, he’s gonna try’n put on this good showin, but most importantly of all, he bout to catch this knee right between his fuckin eyes!"
Once more, they cheered out only this time noticeably louder. That smirk of his softened just a bit as he continued on.
Xavier Laroux:
"On a serious note tho, I can’t even begin to describe how happy I am for the opportunity I’ve been given by Pride Pro Wrestling. More importantly, the opportunity to fight here in front of my hometown tonight. I know I ain’t done a whole hell of a lot of it but it’s definitely somethin that’s gonna happen a lot more often."
The crowd clapping as Xavier nodded his head slowly.
Xavier Laroux:
"Well, now that we got all the sappy shit done and over with, Garrick, get that babyshit fresh ass on out here so I can welcome you to Seattle like only YOUR Favorite Drug” can do!"
Tossing that microphone off to the side, he gripped the bottom of his tank top before peeling it off of his torso, pitching it out to the crowd. Bouncing from leg to leg, Laroux loosened himself up as he prepared for the task at hand. "Believer" by Imagine Dragons blast through the PA system in the arena on cue, and cameras pick up Xavier smiling before the cameras cut away to the stage
Heather Cooper:
"And Xavier's opponent, from Los Angeles, California, Garrick Reid!!!"
Garrick Reid steps out onto the stage, not getting the greatest ovation as he heads to the ring to take on the hometown star. Instead of rolling into the ring, he climbs the stairs, staring across the ring at Xavier, who has moved on from stretching to talking to Heather with a hand over the microphone so that their conversation cannot be picked up. As Garrick enters the ring, Heather makes her exit, and JD Wright signals for the bell to start the match.
Parker Wayde:
Who you got in this one half-pint?"
Coby Quik:
"Undecided."
Parker Wayde:
"You're carrying that grudge awfully far. Isn't it heavy?"
Coby Quik:
"Will you stop worrying about me and call this match?"
The location of the event was definitely a factor for the crowd. Instead of getting the matchup underway from the start, Xavier Laroux raised a hand to his ear, and then one hand out to the crowd, telling them to let him hear it.
"OUR FAVORITE DRUG"
"OUR FAVORITE DRUG"
"OUR FAVORITE DRUG"
"OUR FAVORITE DRUG"
Laughing, Xavier then pointed over towards Garrick, only for the chant and cheers to immediately cut off and get replaced by unanimous boos. Cameras picked up Xavier mouthing the words "MY HOUSE" at Garrick as the two started to circle one another. When they finally locked up in the middle of the ring, the fan applause and cheers shook the ShoWare Center.
Parker Wayde:
"We seem to have more of a shift towards support for Xavier here in Seattle that you just don't see in most places."
Coby Quik:
"...and the most even matched opponents so far tonight, these guys are near identical in size, but clash heavily when it comes to style."
Garrick's more technical style won out in the early going. He was able to keep Xavier off his feet in the opening minutes by fighting off Xavier's strikes and connecting with several suplexes that were met with boos from the crowd. Each time Xavier fought back to his feet, Garrick put him back on the mat until Xavier finally snapped. Targeting Garrick's previously injured knee, Xavier was able to turn the tables and start his comeback with a double leg takedown. Instead of following it with punches, Xavier rose to his feet and stomped away at Garrick's knee to unanimous applause from the fans. When JD Wright stepped in to stop the assault, even he was met with hostility from the fans.
Parker Wayde:
"Even JD is getting caught up in the hate now."
Coby Quik:
"If Xavier doesn't go all the way tonight, we may have a riot on our hands."
Parker Wayde:
"That's What's Up!"
Coby Quik:
"Knock it off!"
While JD checked on Garrick, Xavier played to the crowd, keeping them riled up and enjoying the confusion that it seemed to be creating for both Garrick and JD. Once Garrick convinced the official that he was good to keep going by standing and trying to put weight on his leg, Xavier was done waiting. He rushed in, only for Garrick to avoid contact and slip behind him. Garrick pulled Xavier down into a backslide pin that JD counted at a two and a half before Xavier rolled away. As soon as his feet were back under him, Xavier tried a second charge, but Garrick was up first, and the end looked near.
Coby Quik:
Xavier is about to get rocked!
Garrick planted the leg Xavier had assaulted, and attempted to catch his running opponent with a superkick, but his leg buckled and put him on his backside on the mat. He instinctively drops his hands to reach at his knee as soon as he was down. Already at a sprint, and with Garrick falling into position, Xavier drove a knee directly between the man's eyes causing the fans to reach a whole new decibel level.
Parker Wayde:
I think I'd rather get hit with a sledgehammer....
Coby Quik:
If Garrick is unconscious right now nobody could even blame him.
Xavier dropped over him for a count that everyone knew was the end.
Heather Cooper:
"Seattle, your victor via pinfall and advancing to the second round, XAVIER LAROUX!!!"
JD goes to raise his hand, but Xavier moves away as Heather Cooper climbs up the stairs and up to the apron. Xavier drapes his arm over the top rope, and Heather takes it, raising it up, and pointing to the hometown star. The ovation from the crowd carries on for a few moments before the cameras cut away.
The scene opens up backstage to Julian Savell standing in front of a camera. He’s wearing his ring gear with a fur coat on over it and of course, he has an umbrella.
Julian Savell:
"Here we go. Tonight is the night. It’s the ReAwakening. Like I’ve told you all before, it’s more than just about Pride Pro Wrestling being reawakened. This is about MY reawakening. I’m the greatest wrestler in Pride Pro history. I made headlines here, I fucking built this place! Hell, it would’ve closed earlier than it did during its first stint if it wasn’t for ME!"
A cocky smirk runs over Julian’s face.
Julian Savell:
"Tonight, I fight several opponents. I go up against people who think they have what it takes to survive in Pride Pro. They believe they know what Pride is about. But here’s the thing, I make the rules here in Pride. I allowed all of you to sign up here and when it comes down to it… Your career will keep going on in Pride only if I let it keep going. Because this is the place where I’m most like myself. This is the place where I’m truly… Julian Savell."
Julian takes a few steps towards the camera before leaning down towards it and glaring into it.
Julian Savell:
"And that’s a scary thought for all of you."
Julian cackles before walking away from the scene, swinging around his umbrella.
The lights in the ShoWare Arena dim down to only full with a combo of Gold lighting and flash bulb pasted strobes. Drew walks out on stage wearing a black ring jacket with the same logo as his shorts on the back.
Heather Cooper:
"Introducing first, from Las Vegas, Nevada! Drew Simmons!!!"
He raises his arms up and gives out a yell as his game face is on. He stalks to the ring. Walks up the steps into the ring where he crosses the ring to the second turnbuckle and unzips his jacket and flexes.
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent...."
Anything for You comes on the PA as Anica walks out on stage. Her glare cuts through the crowd as she walks to the ring, slowly but with a purpose.
Heather Cooper:
"From Key Largo, Florida, she is "The Onyx Queen" Anica Townsend!!!"
Her mind is focused on the ring, Anica not being affected by the crowd. She climbs the steps and gets in the ring, posturing for the crowd while the fans jeer at her and boo her. Her music dies out as she stares up the ramp, awaiting her opponent.
Parker Wayde:
"I'm not sure Anica is going to be able to make use of that striking style of hers against Drew."
Coby Quik:
"Just because he has the size advantage? You need to learn to have faith in smaller people."
Proving Coby's point to start the match off, Anica got to a running start, and took out one of Drew's legs to bring him down. With the man on his knees, Anica popped up and started to rain down forearm shot after forearm shot to the side of Drew's head. It was only temporarily successful as Drew showed off his power in shoving her away and getting back up to his feet. Unfortunately, it was not enough to derail her offense. Anica charged back in, ducked a clothesline, and took him down to the mat with a neckbreaker. Instead of going for a quick pin like so many others would have, Anica continued the assault on Drew's leg with targeted stomps.
Parker Wayde:
"Anica is trying to soften that leg up for her figure-four."
Coby Quik:
"You think having one functional leg will neutralize that size advantage you pointed out?"
Not content to just soften up the leg with kicks, Anica picked up Drew's boot before dropping her elbow on his knee. Once on the mat, she grapevined the leg, and locked in a knee bar submission that caused Drew to scream out over the noise of the crowd. JD Wright was in perfect position to ask him if he wanted to submit, but Drew got turned over to his stomach and dragged Anica with him to the ropes where she was forced to break the hold.
Coby Quik:
"We saw Jessica Jones manage a rope break earlier, but the damage had already been done."
Parker Wayde:
"RC was also big enough to drag her back to the center and keep the pressure on. I don't see Anica doing that."
JD stepped in between the two, cutting off Anica's offense to make sure that Drew is okay to continue. Getting confirmation from him, he stepped out of the way and allowed the match to continue. 'The Onyx Queen' tries to go back to the leg, but Drew managed to fight his way out of it and up to his good knee. Again Anica tried laying some stiff strikes on him to keep the momentum, but Drew issued her a second shove backwards. When she charged in, the man managed to get both feet under him in enough time to drop her with a sit-out spinebuster that he held for a pin attempt that got counted at a two.
Parker Wayde:
"Drew may have just turned the tables big time."
Coby Quik:
"...but is the damage already done to that leg? We saw Garrick Reid trust his leg and come up short in the last match."
Both competitors were slow to get to their feet, Anica tried to go toe-to-toe with Drew again, but this time his size advantage won out. After a few strikes, Drew took her to the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex that drove all the air out of her lungs. It bought time for Drew to test out the weight he could put on his knee while he waited for her to rise from the mat. Once she did, Anica turned around directly into his 'Blackjack' codebreaker which looked like it did as much damage to Drew as it did Anica. After a struggle to reposition himself, Drew got the cover, and JD counted the fall to end the match.
Heather Cooper:
"Ladies and gentlemen your winner, and advancing to the next round, Drew Simmons!!!"
JD extends a hand to Drew to help the man back to his feet. "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell blasts through the PA system over top of the crowd cheers as the official raises his hand in victory. After a few moments of celebration, the cameras cut away to elsewhere in the arena.
Shortly after her match, Jessica Jones was found in the backstage area looking a little worse for wear as she sat in the trainer’s room. She was getting her knee checked out after being in that California Crab submission when Maddie Wilson showed up on the scene with a microphone in hand.
Maddie Wilson:
"Excuse me, Jessica…"
At the sound of the voice, she turned her head and eyed the interviewer with a scowl.
Jessica Jones:
"Do you have a death wish or something?"
Maddie Wilson:
"Um, no."
Jessica Jones:
"Then what do you want?"
Maddie Wilson:
"Just thought I would see how you were feeling after coming up short against RC Tucker?"
Jessica Jones:
"How do you think I feel?"
Jessica questioned as she all but jumped up from the examining table. Which was a bit of a mistake as her leg was still unsteady. She had to put her hand back to steady herself.
Jessica Jones:
"I don’t like losing. Especially not on a night like this. This was supposed to be my moment. However, it was smart of me to tap out when I did. It’s not like I couldn’t have withstood the pain for as long as I needed to. But there was no reason to risk getting injured. Gotta think long term, ya know. So I let RC have this one!"
Jessica adds with a smirk.
Maddie Wilson:
"I’m not sure how many people are going to buy that."
Jessica shrugged off the comment as if it were nothing.
Jessica Jones:
"I don’t care what people believe. They can call me a failure for all I care. But I damn sure will prove otherwise once I step into the ring again. It is going to be a rough night for whoever Jason puts me up against. Because when I’m in a bad mood that doesn’t bode well for anyone. So consider that your warning!"
Before Maddie can say or do anything else, Jessica brushed her way passed her as she exited the room and headed down the hall limping slightly.
"Good Girls" by Elle King is already playing through the arena PA when we cut from the backstage area and back to the action.
Heather Cooper:
"Already joining me in the ring, rom Las Vegas, Nevada she is Eliza Valentine!!!"
Eliza Valentine is leaning back against the ropes on the far side of the ring from the ramp, staring up and waiting for her music to be cut off so her opponent could join her.
Heather Cooper:
"....and her opponent..."
A funky little bass groove followed by a 'Woo!' heralds the arrival of the 16-Bit Superstar who bolts out from the back looking so excited he can barely contain himself. He smiles and flashes his 'V for victory' sign to the happy fans.
Rolling around at the speed of sound
Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow
Can't stick around, have to keep movin' on
Guess what lies ahead, only one way to find out
Heather Cooper:
"He is 'The 16-Bit Superstar', 'The Maverick Hunter', 'The Super Kawaii Gaming Gaijin' OLLIE MAVERICK!!!!
Ollie runs in place for a bit then bolts halfway down the ramp at top speed before dropping to his knees to do a power slide. The fans are delighted by Ollie's antics.
Follow me - set me free - trust me
And we will escape from the city
I'll make it through, follow -
Follow me - set me free - trust me
And we will escape from the city
I'll make it through, prove it to you
Follow me
Ollie skips to the apron before easily leaping up onto it then doing a diving somersault into the ring, landing in a kneeling position and holding up dual 'V for Victory' hand gestures. He stands and bows respectfully to the referee as his music dies down.
Parker Wayde:
"We have seen the Jessicas, Jones and Nitoh, already eliminated from the tournament along with Anica Townsend, can Eliza Valentine reverse the trend?"
Coby Quik:
"Well she is a whole lot scarier than any of the others, so if I had to put money on someone..."
Parker Wayde:
"Scarier? She can't use her hardcore methods in this one, so I hope she brought a backup plan."
Before the third chime of the bell, Eliza was already at a full sprint. Ollie seemed caught off guard, and got blasted from the start with a tackle and takedown showing every bit of the ferocity from their promos was going to be evident in the match-up. Eliza threw punches as Ollie tried to cover up, but many of the shots got threw his defenses before JD Wright had to step in and separate the two. Eliza moved away, only to be met with boos from the crowd when she looked pleased with her actions. The couple seconds of distraction was all that Ollie needed though. He popped back up to his feet, chasing after her. Eliza turned, only to be met with a Japanese arm drag that took her to the mat. Both competitors were quick to get up, but as they came together in the center of the ring, Ollie followed up the first with an identical second. Eliza appeared to land funny off of the second arm drag, and came up holding her neck and crying out in pain when Ollie reached down to pull her back to her feet. The moment of hesitation created by her outcry was enough to allow her to poke her opponent in the eye, which only increased the negative reaction she was getting from the crowd.
Coby Quik:
"She might not be able to use weapons, but that's not going to stop her from bending the rules apparently."
Parker Wayde:
"Maybe she is just willing to do whatever needs to be done to win, Mr. Judgmental."
Coby Quik:
"Whose side are you even on?"
Parker Wayde:
"That is for me to know, and for you to ponder."
JD Wright issued a warning to Eliza, but she was clearly paying him no mind, moving around him before Ollie can regroup. He turned to her, his hand still covering his eye, and was caught with a chick kick to the undefended side of his face. When he drops to the mat, Eliza followed, attempting the cover in order to save energy for the next rounds. JD slid into position, but Ollie kicked out convincingly right at two, which, according to Eliza, was entirely JD's fault. She slapped the mat in frustration before helping Ollie back up to his feet by grabbing a handful of his hair. Once he was on his feet she switched up her grip, propelling him towards the ropes with an Irish whip. However, instead of him simply rebounding back towards her, Ollie back-handspringed back in her direction and caught her with an elbow that brought the crowd to life with cheers.
Coby Quik:
"Quick Time Event success!"
Parker Wayde:
"Oh, you've been waiting to use that one, haven't you? You are so lame."
Both competitors took a second to regroup, with the fans cheering for Ollie to make it back to his feet first. To their dismay, both he and Eliza are vertical at nearly the same time. Ollie won the exchange of strikes that would follow, and locked Eliza up for a suplex. However, in midair, Eliza managed to counter, landing back-to-back with Ollie, but on her feet before dropping him with a neckbreaker that caused even JD to have to look away for a second. Eliza did not hesitate to get repositioned, moving Ollie into position and closing the match with a pin fall following her Mysterious finisher.
Heather Cooper:
"Here is your winner by pin fall and advancing to the next round of the Lion's Pride Event, Eliza Valentine!!!"
Without getting up, Eliza says something to Ollie and then crawls backwards out of the ring, making her way up the ramp amidst rampant boos from the crowd.
As cameras return to the backstage area, Faith is seen doing some simple stretches in front of a monitor as she prepares for her match. When she notices the camera has captured her presence, Faith can’t help but say a few words.
Faith Rivers:
"As great as the night has been so far, there’s still plenty more of great action to come. Including my debut inside a Pride ring!"
She drops her arms at her side as she continues.
Faith Rivers:
"I can’t wait to get out there and do what I do what I do best in front of my Faithful Army. I know each and every one of you will be cheering me on to victory tonight."
Faith nods.
Faith Rivers:
"It’s always an exciting time stepping into the ring the first time for a new company. So many possibilities and opportunities around every corner. I’m going to make the most of them. But before I can do that, I need to prove that I’m deserving of such things and get the win in this Six Pack Challenge."
She pauses.
Faith Rivers:
"Some of my competition might not see that happening, but I promise one of them is leaving Reawakening faithless!"
With that, Faith returns her attention to the monitor and goes back to her stretches as the scene goes elsewhere.
Heather Cooper:
"Returning to Pride Pro Wrestling, from Oakland, California, Luke Jackson!!!!"
Lose Yourself plays over the PA System as Luke walks out he has a backawards A's cap on he slaps the hands of the fans as he walks down
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent, making her professional debut!"
”Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato begins to play and a few seconds later, Kendall walks out onto the stage, a smirk on her face and her hands on her hips. She stops in the middle of the stage.
Heather Cooper:
"From Battle Lake, Minnesota, Kendall James!!!!"
She looks around before moving her hips in a circle and turning around, bending over slightly before turning back to face the ring. She begins to walk down the ramp, arms down by her sides now. She stops in the middle of the ramp and looks around, acting like she’s gonna slap some of the fans’ hands before pulling away and pushing her hair over her shoulder and strutting down the rest of the ramp and over to the metal steps. She jogs up them and goes to the left, stepping on the apron and dipping down to get in the ring between the middle and bottom rope. She steps into the middle of the ring and just raises her hands up and downs a small bow.
Parker Wayde:
"I remember that look from being a fresh rookie at the start of Pride last time around, and he was impressive even then."
Coby Quik:
"I think that he might disagree a little there, as he has been putting a lot behind this 'Rebuilt' Luke Jackson thing that he has going on."
Parker Wayde:
"Well, he's not a kid anymore. All nicknames need updating."
Coby Quik:
"You should keep that in mind, 'Instant Impact'."
Luke seemed to have slight reservations about going after Kendall in the early going, but Kendall had no problem taking advantage of it. She got the match started with a basement dropkick that neutralized the size advantage, and followed it up with a wristlock that kept Luke down in the early stages. Each time he tried to fight up, Kendall would send a kick to his ribs, and amp up the pressure. However, in the third attempt, Luke his free arm to grab Kendall's boot just before it made contact. He raised himself up to a knee, causing her to release the hold on his wrist or lose her balance, and it created all the space Luke needed to level her with a clothesline.
Parker Wayde:
"I think Luke got over the whole hitting someone smaller than he is thing."
Coby Quik:
"Looks like it! I am not sure if you have met Kendall, but it doesn't take long for her to convince anyone to think about hitting her."
Parker Wayde:
"Really? Is she that unpleasant?"
Coby Quik:
"Just needy. Ask JD next time you run into him."
The announcers' sidebar aside, Luke quickly took control of the match, his experience winning out over Kendall's more aggressive approach. A particularly impressive moment saw Kendall missing wildly with a right hand, only to have Luke drive her to the mat with a bulldog. Kendall escaped to the ropes, where PJ Cooper had to step in and separate the two, but as soon as he was clear, Luke charged at her and connected with the Oakland Drive By punt kick to the side of her head. The rebuilt Pride star threw himself over her for the cover, hooking both legs as he did, but showing amazing ring awareness, Kendall managed to reach out and drape her wrist over the bottom rope to break the pin at a count of two.
Parker Wayde:
"Kendall must have a hell of a trainer to have that kind of ring presence so early."
Coby Quik:
"Are you really plugging Jet City in the middle of a match right now?"
Frustrated by the mistake of not pulling her away from the ropes, Luke attempted to pull Kendall back up to her feet. However, it was unsuccessful as Kendall lifted her legs, capturing his wrist, and locked in her Broken DALL triangle submission. Careful to keep at least one of her shoulders of the mat, Kendall wrenched on his arm until Luke has to tap her leg and submit.
Heather Cooper:
"Here is your winner, advancing to the next round by submission, Kendall James!"
The cameras cut backstage to “Gifted” DeMarcus Gresham still feeling loose from the work witnessed earlier in the night. Bouncing on the balls of his feet he hops around in his wrestling wear he rounds the locker room taking a few feints and maneuvering around. He rolls his shoulders and finally acknowledges the camera turning his eyes toward the view.
DeMarcus Gresham:
"Are you not yet enlightened or would you like to know more? Do you not see and know what stands before you or you still retain your blindness? Do not deny your Gift. It will come to each of you. So many similarities. Seattle, the home to many of us as I have witnessed but alas none of you are the best product from our Emerald Land. I stand among you not the only orphan in action this evening. I am not the only one holding a title from other working promotions? Brilliant. They matter not."
He shakes his head at the immense time wasted with hearing his constituents pointless dialogue.
DeMarcus Gresham:
"Similarities...so many yet...none of you are Gifted. That is where they end. Period."
He exhales with a deadpanned expression keeping his light motion.
DeMarcus Gresham:
"Ace Marshall has received his. The gift that continues giving. Please come...come and join him."
A light chuckle leaves his body as he slows his bouncing.
DeMarcus Gresham:
"Your Lions Pride Tournament winner is merely getting warmed up. I have caused myself more of a workout here in my private quarters than those unnecessary minutes inside of the ring. Prepare lambs. Prepare and follow. Now, dismiss yourself."
The camera cuts off immediately.
"Sunglasses at Night" by Corey Hart is playing in the areana when we return to the ring. The camera focuses in on Heather Cooper, who raises her microphone to introduce the competitor already joining her in the ring.
Heather Cooper:
"Please help me welcome Sammy Duke to Pride Pro Wrestling!!"
There are light cheers throughout the crowd, but Sammy appears to be enjoying any kind of reaction at all, waving out at fans, and enjoying himself.
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent in the Lion's Pride Event's First Round!"
"OUTSIDE IS AMERICA...."
A homeless guitar riff rips through the speakers, steadily building towards an explosive crescendo of hard-hitting drums that gives way to "Bullet the Blue Sky" by P.O.D. The instant, mixed reactions from the audience booms louder as the arena dims to black, slowly bleeding in of fluorescent strobes of light that spiral around clockwork as if searching for an escaped convict. Heads continuing to turn in the dark at every available direction, all eyes vigilantly hunting the Manassa Mauler until every flicker of light joins together for a single spotlight in the crowd section. It's up in a particular staircase that Erron Wilder slowly trudges down the cold steps at his own leisure.
"In the howling wind comes a stinging rain
See it driving nails
Into the souls on the tree of pain
From the firefly, a red orange glow
See the face of fear
Running scared in the valley below"
As the lyrics pursue, his surly pout emerging through the touch of light. He swings his arms loosely to their sides with a hint of cockiness in his movement. This is Wilder, soaked up with an aggressive form of confidence in the midst of a crowd reaching for him on his way down. Both of his shriveled up, glacial blue eyes remaining fixated with the ring, and never turning away to give care to those calling out to him. He quickly slides over the barricade upon contact, scoffing at everyone and everything with a saucy grunt before rolling his leather jacket-clad heap inside the ring.
Heather Cooper:
"Making his way to the ring, by way of Manassa, Colorado and weighing in at two-hundred and thirty-two pounds, he is... ERRON "THE AMERICAN SERIAL THRILLER" WWIILLDDEERR!!!"
Pacing around the mat in evident restlessness, Erron rolls his wrists and jerks his head sideways in last second preparation. A jittery smile ripping over his shady mug provided a closing gesture of how anxious he is to start swinging.
Coby Quik:
"Well this should be interesting..."
Parker Wayde:
"That is not the word I would have used to describe it. We have a dodgeball coach going up a guy that does not mess around when it comes to picking people apart verbally or physically."
Coby Quik:
"You saying that you don't stand with Sammy?"
Parker Wayde:
"I'm saying I wouldn't bet money on the guy if I was a betting man."
Even Erron looked a little surprised that Sammy actually showed up to compete as the bell rang to signal the start. He pointed towards Sammy, while addressing senior official PJ Cooper, asking if he was serious. When the best that PJ could offer in response was a shrug, he realized that he was actually going to have to fight a man with little to no training. The thought did not seem to bother him as much as it would have others, and the two started to circle. Looking confident, Sammy engaged in a lock-up with Erron, only to get shoved down to his backside fairly easily. The crowd had Sammy's back, booing loudly as Erron taunted him, which was more than enough to urge the rookie to get back to his feet.
Coby Quik:
"Well at least the fans love him."
Parker Wayde:
"I almost don't want to see how this is going to play out."
Once Sammy was back on his feet, he immediately raised his hand up in the air, looking for a test of strength. Without a moment of hesitation, Erron came forward, linking his hands with Sammy's and immediately wrenching on both of his wrists. The rookie cried out in pain loud enough to draw sympathetic boos from the crowd. Erron, however, chose to break the hold by sending a stiff kick to Sammy's midsection that not only doubled him over but dropped him to his knees. As a follow up, Erron sent a hard kick aimed for Sammy's sternum, but in a surprise move, Sammy caught the boot and shoved Erron backwards.
Coby Quik:
"Here's Sammy's chance!"
Sammy popped back to his feet, stomping his right foot on the mat twice before shuffling forward and kicking Erron in the center of the shin.
Parker Wayde:
"That was just an all around bad decision...."
Mostly unaffected, Erron grabbed Sammy as he tried to escape his reach. Erron grabbed at Sammy's wrist and pulled him back towards himself, lifting his knee to catch the rookie in the midsection.
Coby Quik:
"This is not going to be pretty...."
When Sammy lurched forward, Erron darted across the ring and to the other side of the ropes to build his momentum. He ricocheted from the ropes with more speed, and came back with another striking knee but this time directed at Sammy's back. The force of the knee to Sammy's vertebral column almost voodoo-esque forced him to fall down to his knees.
Parker Wayde:
"Sammy for the love of God just go down!"
Without stopping to survey the damage, Erron once again used the ropes to slingshot himself towards his kneeling opponent with a stiff jumping knee strike to the face that left Sammy in a heap on the mat. PJ Cooper backs up Erron as he tried to continue the assault following his Tri-Colored Flank combination. Not getting a response from Sammy, PJ turned and signaled for the bell.
Heather Cooper:
"Ladies and gentlemen, PJ Cooper has called and end to this match. Therefore, advancing to the next round of the tournament, Erron Wilder!"
As things unfold backstage Abby Watkins is standing with Lyric 'Riot’ Sullens who's fresh off signing her contract with Pride Pro. Lyric has her headphones over her ears as her head nods back and forth. Getting a tap on the shoulder Lyric slides the headphones down to her neck, smiling as she waves to the camera.
Abby Watkins:
"I’m standing here with Lyric Sullens who just signed her contract with Pride Pro Wrestling here tonight on our return show ReAwakening. I just want to say welcome to Pride Pro, Lyric."
Riot:
Thanks Abby I appreciate the gratitude. I wasn't really expecting to be here, but after doing a good job in my tryout the other day I just knew that I would be getting a contract. Plus, tonight is a big night for Pride Pro and I just had to be here if I’m going to be apart of the company going forward. A little upset that I got to the party late though. I would've liked to be out there tonight. Oh and…
Lyric held up her finger as she had another thing to say.
Riot:
"You can call me Riot."
Abby Watkins:
"Well Riot, who are you? Let the people who’ll be tuning in every other week know who you are."
Lyric bites down on her bottom lip as she looks around at nothing in particular.
Riot:
"I’m just an unknown prospect from Queen's, New York. I don't think there is much to really be known about me except for the fact I love everything about wrestling. Cliche, but it is what it is. I’ve been around it my whole life so I’m just happy to finally be able to perform on a bigger platform. Hopefully I can have this long career that I've imagined for as long as I can remember. That'd be cool, but for now I'm just ready to get things started and show people what I can do."
Lyric reaches up and pushes some of her hair back from her face.
Abby Watkins:
"And the show tonight, what do you think so far."
Lyric smiles.
Riot:
"I like what I see. There is no doubt that a lot of talent has signed on for the relaunch of Pride Pro. I think tonight is about showcasing that...the talent. There are going to be good things going forward and I'm glad I'm going to be apart of it. When I get to tango with the guys and girls here I’m inspired to put on some magical performances and help Pride Pro get back to where it once was."
Lyric folds her arms together as she leans up against the wall nearest to her.
Abby Watkins:
"Is there anybody you would like to step inside the ring with on your in ring debut?"
Lyric shrugs her shoulders and pokes her bottom lip out.
Riot:
"Nah, not any of that yet. I just wanna get started and make a name for myself. Whoever they put me in the ring with I’ll be glad to fight against. Maybe like some months from now I’ll let you know. Right now I’m more focused on other things, but if someone does something I disagree with there could be a problem."
Abby Watkins:
"Well I’m getting the cue that it’s time to head back to the ring. Any other thing you want to say before leave?"
Lyric places her headphones back over her ears.
Riot:
"Enjoy the rest of your night guys and remember to tune in next show when I step into a Pride Pro ring for the first time. You don't wanna miss it. Trust me."
Turning the music up in her ears Lyric waves before walking away. The scene begins to fade.
"Courtesy Call" plays while blue and white lights strobe over the stage. As Ryan's entrance video is shown in the titantron the man himself walks out to take center stage. With a bright smile playing on his lips he does a confident pose before slowly making his way down the ramp.
Heather Cooper:
"Introducing first, from Las Vegas, Nevada, Ryan Keys!!!!"
Slapping the hands of the fans to his side he jogs closer to the ring until he slides in through the bottom ropes. As he makes way up the corner ring post he stops and looks around to hear the cheers of the crowd as he teases them with tearing off his shirt and tossing it to the side. Showing the same confident pose as before he hops down and extends his leg over the ring post to stretch them out and show his flexibility while he waits on his opponent.
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent..."
"Holy Diver" hits over the loudspeakers and as soon as the music increases in tempo, Holly parts the curtain.
Heather Cooper:
From Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, Holly Rhodes!!!!
She slowly walks to the ring, her eyes fixed on the ring. She looks around as she marches to the ring, taking in the crowd noises. She pauses at the steps, takes a deep breath and slaps the steps before running up them and into the ring across from Ryan.
Parker Wayde:
"If Ryan Keys thought he was going to have a significant size advantage when he saw Holly's name on the card, he was sadly mistaken."
Coby Quik:
"Ryan is a professional. This dude wrestles all over the place. I have no doubt he is ready for this one."
Parker Wayde:
So ready that we haven't heard from him?
The argument from the two commentators got cut off as Holly and Ryan locked up in the center of the ring. At first Ryan pushed her back, nearly gaining the upper hand before Holly turned on her heel and used Ryan's own momentum to push him back against the ropes. Once he was there, senior referee PJ Cooper had to step in and separate the two, but the break was short-lived.
Coby Quik:
"I don't think that Ryan was expecting that!"
Parker Wayde:
"I don't think any of us were expecting that."
The two come together again, and this time Holly ducked under Ryan's outstretched arms and rebounded off the ropes behind him. When the distance between them closed, camera flashes around the crowd got a perfect shot of the beautiful dropkick that leveled Ryan to the mat. She did not waste any time either. As soon as she was back up on her feet, Holly reached down for Ryan's wrist, not only pulling him up from the mat, but whipping him across the ring. The exhibitionist took to the arm as he came back towards his opponent and wrapped his legs around her head, looking for a running hurricanrana, but the move was countered beautifully into a powerbomb like move that took the breath out of both Ryan and the crowd. PJ Cooper slid in to count the pin, but Ryan was able to raise his shoulder before the three.
Coby Quik:
"Keys is having a hard time getting anything going."
Parker Wayde:
"He has a thirty-pound advantage, but Holly's height is neutralizing that. It seems like Ryan is still working on figuring her out."
Coby Quik:
"Too many more shots like that and he won't be needing to figure her out because he is going to be in the locker room while she is in the next round."
Holly was first to her feet, and once again reached down to pull Ryan up, but this time the veteran was waiting. He hooked her arms and rolled backwards into a small package that almost stole him the victory. When the two were back on their feet, Ryan landed a solid European style uppercut that created some space and allowed him to follow up with a running one-handed bulldog that planted Holly face first on the mat. Instead of going for a second pin attempt though, Ryan decided to take to the air.
Coby Quik:
"Keys is rolling now!"
Parker Wayde:
"He's headed up to the high-risk district!"
Atop the nearest turnbuckle, with his back to the ring, Ryan flipped backwards, directly down onto the outstretched boot of Holly. It catches Ryan in the jaw, which stood him straight up before causing him to stagger backwards until he hit the ropes.
Coby Quik:
"Holly saw it coming!"
Parker Wayde:
"That is why they call it high risk!"
Ryan fought through the daze as Holly got back to her feet, and charged her to lay her out with a clothesline, but she dipped her shoulder and lifted the man up into the air in a feat that impressed everyone in attendance. As soon as Ryan was in position, Holly popped her hips, spinning Ryan down to the mat with a Holy Diver that seemed to split the crowd. PJ Cooper was already in position to count the fall as Holly hooked Ryans outside leg, but there was never any doubt about the result as even the fans chanted along.
Heather Cooper:
"Advancing to the second round via pinfall, Holly Rhodes!!!!"
PJ gets up, raising Holly's hand in the air. The cameras follow her celebration in the ring until she exits between the ropes. As she makes her way up the ramp, slapping outstretched hands of fans as she goes, the cameras cut back to the announce team.
Going backstage, we find interviewer Maddie standing by. She seems very excited to be there.
Maddie Wilson:
"Am I on? Oh... ok. So I am here with the legendary Violet Cooper."
The camera pans around to see the red head in question. She looks a little bored to be there.
Maddie Wilson:
"So what is it like to be a Hall of famer, former champion, mother of 3, trainer of the future and married to our General Manager. Must fill up your days."
Violet raises a red eyebrow at the girl.
Maddie Wilson:
"I mean you already got your hands full with your whole personality disorder and everything, I don't know how you do it..."
Violet goes to open her mouth again before Maddie is already asking another question.
Maddie Wilson:
"I guess everyone is wondering if you will ever find yourself back in a ring now or if with all of that you are just going to help us newbs get off our feet..."
Violet, obviously frustrated with the girl offers a smirk and turns walking away. Maddie looks panicked.
Maddie Wilson:
"Wait... aww... damn..."
The young girl looks defeated as she fumbles the mic and it falls to the floor. From behind her a young man appears. He picks up the mic and taps her on the shoulder.
Maddie Wilson:
"Oh. Thanks... its Merrick right? You're Kinley's brother..."
Merrick Henderson:
"That's me. And you know, don't stress too much about Cooper. She thinks she's better than everyone."
Maddie seems to agree but doesn't verbally express it.
Merrick Henderson:
"So maybe you can show me around back here. Might be coming more often now."
Maddie seems to blush a little.
Maddie Wilson:
"Are you signing with Pride too?"
Merrick gives her a dashing smile.
Merrick Henderson:
"Maybe? Depends on how good your tour is..."
Merrick puts an arm around the younger girls shoulders, leading her away as the scene filters back to ringside.
Heather Cooper:
"The following match will conclude the first round of the Lion's Pride Event! Introducing first..."
"We are not the same I am too reckless
I'm not tryna go in that direction
These niggas they been doing too much flexing
But they about to follow my intention"
As his music cued up, Wyatt moved to make his quiet entrance into the arena, that low, smooth, music filtering across the P.A. system as he walked with a quiet confidence towards the ring with an almost dopey grin on his lips. Dressed in classic wrestling boots, with black spandex pants on that had gold trim to them, the same gold trim that was around his waist! Bare chested, his shoulders and sides covered by the sleeveless hoodie that was the same, abyssal, black as the rest of his clothes, except for the golden “W.W.” across the shoulders. He was content with that slow rolling walk of his.
Heather Cooper:
"He is "The Moose of a Thousand Moves", The Amazing Wyatt Warner!!!"
"And I ain't got no patience, no more testing
I do shit how I want, don't need no blessing
XO niggas, ain't nothing to mess with
Nobody stopping us, cause we been destined"
He pauses just before he entered the ring. He was rolling his shoulders back to drop the hoodie from his body before promptly whipping it above his head and letting it sail into the audience, only to run the rest of the short distance into the ring and slide into it, springing up to his feet, dusting his shoulders off, right as his music began to end.
Heather Cooper:
"...and his opponent and the final entrant into the Lion's Pride Event!"
"Black Honey" begins to blare over the PA system when Julian Savell appears at the top of the entrance way. The fans begin to shower him with boos. Julian pops the collar of the fur coat that he's wearing as a sly smirk runs over his face. Julian is also carrying his patented umbrella and is wearing sunglasses to go along with his wrestling trunks.
Heather Cooper:
"Residing in Las Vegas, Nevada and weighing in at 225 pounds... He is a former Pride Heavyweight Champion and "Your Own Personal Savior"... JULIAN SAVELL!!!"
Julian walks down the ramp while repeatedly raising his hands in the air, telling the fans to get louder with their boos so they oblige. Julian then walks up the steps and dusts his feet off on the top step before stepping through the middle rope. He climbs up to one of the top turnbuckles and then raises his hands in the air horizontally with the umbrella still in his right hand. Julian then jumps down from the turnbuckle, takes off his fur coat and sunglasses and hands them to one of the staffers outside of the ring.
Coby Quik:
"This is the one that I have been looking most forward to all night, not even trying to deny it."
Parker Wayde:
"Wyatt Warner is arguably the best of the newcomers that Pride signed for ReAwakening.
Coby Quik:
"...and Julian Savell is the best of the best from the last run of Pride. Despite Cody Taylor's manipulating, Julian was Pride's last heavyweight champion."
Parker Wayde:
"This is almost as big of a matchup as the final will be. It's too bad only one of them is going to get the chance to qualify for it in the second round."
Coby Quik:
"If only these two were spaced a little further apart. It could have made for an interesting meeting later tonight."
Parker Wayde:
"Instead, a main event quality match is happening right here, right now."
JD Wright made his way back down to the ring to officiate the finale of the first round. The fans seemed divided on who they wanted to support as well. On one hand you had the returning hero. On the other hand, there was nothing not to like about Wyatt. Against his better judgment, giving up a significant size advantage to Julian, Wyatt locked arms with him to kick things off, but was quickly backed up into the corner. JD stepped in to separate the two, but the break was far from clean. Over the top of JD's head, Julian issued Wyatt a hard right hand that rocked the smaller man back against the turnbuckles. Immediately JD turns from Wyatt, getting into Julian's face about following his instructions. Julian bats JD out of his way, but Wyatt came sprinting out of the corner once he had a clear path. He took to the air as he closed the distance between them, rocking the former champion with a superman punch that drew cheers from the crowd.
Coby Quik:
"Wyatt is not going to be intimidated!"
Parker Wayde:
"He had to find some way to one-up that dirty shot Julian took, and he succeeded."
Julian turned away, reaching a hand up to his jaw instinctively. Luckily to Wyatt, it did more damage to Julian's face than it did his hand. He lurches forward again, before Julian can turn his attention back to him, and takes out his right knee with a chop block that sends them both to the ground. He stays on offense, spinning around, and tucking Julian's ankle under his arm before leaning back to put pressure on Julian's back and knee with single-leg Boston crab. JD Wright moves around to discuss tapping out with Julian, who brushes him off without offering a real response. The former champion starts to crawl towards the ropes, using his free leg to help push him along the way. When he reaches out to it, Wyatt sits up in an attempt to pull him away. However, the little bit of space that it creates allows for Julian to start to roll. Wyatt tries to reposition, but Julian gets him off balance with kicks from his free leg, eventually causing a break in the hold.
Parker Wayde:
"Julian was determined to get out of that situation one way or another."
Coby Quik:
"We have seen a few people have their nights ruined by having their knees taken out early on though. Wyatt has to of been paying attention to that."
Parker Wayde:
"It would be smart to take those lessons to heart. Even those that moved on are going to have a hard time shaking out the damage."
Wyatt backs away, raising both hands out to Julian, and motioning for him to get up and bring the fight to him. Again, the crowd pops loudly for the 'Amazing' new star. Julian smacks the mat, but pushes himself up to his feet, nodding to the rookie. The two come together again, each man throwing a right hand. Both connect at the same time, causing each man to take a step back. Julian is the first to fire off a second shot, despite the fact that it is blocked and countered with a shot from Wyatt. The fans are on their feet, unanimous cheers rolling in for Wyatt with each strike while Julian's reaction is still much more mixed. Neither man appeared to be getting the better of the other until Julian blocked a right hand, and followed it with a poke to the eyes instead of a straight up strike. It drew boos from the crowd that were more unified than before, and created the space that Julian needed to plant the Olympian in what originally looked like a belly-to-back suplex that instead ending with Julian driving both of his knees into Wyatt's back. Julian went for the cover following the move, but Wyatt rolled his shoulder up after two.
Parker Wayde:
"Wyatt has to be prepared for Julian to bend the rules like that or things are not going to go his way in this one."
Coby Quik:
"Savell has never played fair in his life, so why would he start now?"
Julian quickly pushed himself back to his feet, stalking Wyatt from behind as he attempted to get his lungs to fill back up with air. Measuring his opponent, Julian keeps moving to stay in Wyatt's blindspot. As the smaller man gets back to a knee though, Julian brings his right boot up, looking for a buzzsaw style kick. Having it scouted though, Wyatt is able to duck, which sends Julian spinning due to the momentum. Wyatt pops back up to his feet, hooking Julian up before powering him to the mat with his 'Moosebomb' gutwrench powerbomb. He holds Julian's legs, and rolls forward into a bridge style pin. JD slides in, but a stiff shot from Julian to Wyatt's ribs breaks up the pin attempt at two.
Parker Wayde:
"Both of these men want to make it to the final more than anything."
Coby Quik:
"If they keep going like this though, they aren't going to have anything left by the time they get there."
Wyatt is first to his feet, but Julian is not far behind him. With the slight advantage, Wyatt charges towards the bigger man, leaping and extending his feet towards Julian's chest for a front dropkick. The veteran shows off his ring presence though, taking a step back so that Wyatt catches nothing but air in the attempt. Julian reaches down, hooking his arms around each of Wyatt's feet, and falling backwards. The slingshot sends Wyatt head first into the turnbuckle, and then rebounding back towards Julian, who is up and waiting for him. In a flash, Julian plants his left leg, and extends his right boot, catching Wyatt in the jaw with a superkick that echoes throughout the arena despite the boos from the crowd who are now firmly behind Wyatt. Not wasting time, Julian ascends the top rope, talking trash to Wyatt as he goes. He leaps from the top, hitting his Savell Splash, and staying positioned for the pinfall, the fans do not even count along through the boos. When JD Wright raises from the mat to signal for the bell, Julian's music can barely be heard over the sound of the crowd.
Heather Cooper:
"Ladies and gentlemen, your winner via pinfall and the last person advancing into the second round, Julian Savell!"
Julian allows JD to raise his hand, but only because he is waiting for his belongings to be returned to him from ringside. He puts his fur coat back on, looking pleased with himself despite the fact that he had managed to turn everyone in the audience against him. He breaks out the sunglasses next, putting them back over his eyes as JD Wright checks on Wyatt to make sure he is okay. Finally, the cameras get a shot of Julian putting his umbrella over his shoulder as we cut away.
